Topic: RE: Dr Jones- lap band?
I had lap band 10 years ago by Dr.Jones and now I am back to presurg weight and am having a revision. I know a lot of people who went the RNY route at the same time and they are doing great and have not gained the weight back. I agree with Peggy the decision is up to you. Don't let others talk you into doing something you don't want to do.

Hello all. I am planning on VSG. I am currently trying to lose the 20lb required by my physician. Dr. Mattar. My insurance has already been approved for surgery. I was told I would be getting a call next to set up appt for pre-op class and to expect to be there all day. Can anyone tell me what this consists of? Do they do all your pre-op testing there and what testing do they do for VSG? Any information would be helpful. Thanks Kim

i have not gotten banded yet, so it is totally opinion on my part. it is a personal descision. if you like loosing faster there are benifits but you run the risk of loose skin because of the rapid weightloss. It (to my understanding) will loosen in time thus the need for another fill, you have what a month -3 months to stay tight.
on the other side, if you are not getting enough protien and cant seem to add it in the liquid diet you are on then for your health, I would get it loosened.
In my opinion, if you are comfortable being tight, i would not say anything. enjoy the weightloss and good luck!

I do not know about Meijer, but I do know that CVS does carry the small 6 packs of them in the diet section.

Topic: Wanting your opinion
I had LapBand done back in November.  I had been loosing about 1 pound per week, which is right on target for that type of surgery.  HOWEVER, I was very discouraged by this.  Even though my Dr was glad to see my weight loss I wanted to loose it faster.  Plus I never really think my band was tight enough.  Well at my last "fill" appointment the Dr filled it too tight.  The thing is I know it too tight BUT it really makes me eat very little and I am now loosing three to four pounds a week instead of just one.  I eat about 1 1/2 to 3 oz of food each meal.  I don't really get hungry and if I do eat too much too quick I purge it up.  I know I can't get all my protien I am suppose to get in. I do get all my fluids in.  I know what I can and cannot eat.  My blender is getting a good workout because a lot of the foods I have to chop or puree up.

So just curious would you keep the band too tight too lose the weight or go back in and get it loosened?

Melissa, Good to hear from you.  I am so glad both you and Noah are doing well.  You take this time to get the rest you need now.  No more overdoing it!   Noah will want you healthy and strong when he comes home.   Hugs and kisses to both of you.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

I just got back from GNC with a 6 pack of Isopure samples.  The clerk didn't mention anything about thier store brand!  HUMMMMM

Was it premixed?  I will have to check it out next time I go!
I am having a hard time finding protein that I can stomach.  Let me know what you think of their brand.

Hope you have a wonderful eveing!
