Topic: I'm back!
Hi Everyone! Im back at work. Tonight (I work 5p-5a) is my first night back. I had surgery 3/17 so it has been exacctly 3 weeks today. Thanks to all of you for checking on me and for all your prayers and support. I dont have computer access at home right now so I wasnt able to stay in touch. I did fine even though I was in surgery for 6hrs due to scar tissue (Im a revision I had a VGB in 1978) and an immediate leak so I ended up with a drain. I am doing great now but that first week or so was a trip! Im still trying to get my mind around this eating thing or should I say this lack of eating thing!! Tomorrow I start soft foods and I cant even think of what to eat. I can eat about 1/4 - 1/2 c depending on what it is. I wanted to especially thank Tracey for offering to visit and be my angel, and Kristie for checking in often. Keep me in your prayers.

Topic: RE: which dr. is best for my location
I did a lot of research to decide were to go, and I think that any doctor from the St. Vincents Bariatric Center of Excellence would be the right choice. yeah it is a little bit of a longer drive for you, but wouldn't you really drive as far as you had to for such a major surgery? They were labeled as a bariatric "center of excellence" for a reason, you are only given that label, if you meet many requirements, whi*****ludes doing many many of these surgeries (they have done over 10,000) with many many wonderful outcomes. Yhey also have a great program to keep you in line for years after your surgery. I live in Terre Haute and drive over 2 hours to go there, but I think it is worth it. there are only 406 bariatric centers of excellence in the whole country and st. vincents of carmel is one of them. I believe Clarian North Medical Center is also a center of excellence. good luck on your journey!

Topic: RE: got my appointment with St Francis WLC!
Dr Olson does medical supervised weightloss NOT bariatric surgery. I had Dr Clark thru St Francis WLS with my insurance being Medicare & Medicaid so they do take both or either. I had excellent care with St Francis & still do. They really work as a team with the physicians to make sure you really get the best information for your "tool". They'll answer all & every question you may have - so don't hesitate to call them at any time, even if there's questions BEFORE your appointment.
Good Luck & enjoy your journey.

Topic: RE: got my appointment with St Francis WLC!
Dr. Olson is a weight loss doctor, she does not do bariatric surgeries. The two surgeons that are with that practice are Dr Clark and Dr Mandlebaum. I had Dr Mandlebaum and he is a great surgeon. Dr Olson is very good as well. She is very high spirited and will really work with you to get you on the right track with your weight loss. If you have any questions regarding insurance there are two gals there that deal with nothing but insurance. I forget their names but just ask and someone there will point you in the right direction. If you want any more info on St Francis just ask. Good luck.
Topic: RE: Going bald
I started taking Biotin before surgery, and have taken it daily since. I didn't lose any hair at all. If you aren't taking it, start!
Topic: RE: Going bald
I took Biotin and it worked wonders for me thank you for suggesting it Melissa! I was losing hair quickly even tho I was doing well on protein and all the other things. I still have some biotin but have not had to take it anymore.
Topic: got my appointment with St Francis WLC!
So I finally got the Dr to refer me to the WLC, I have been asigned to the St francis bariatrics. Dr Olson. I havew not found her on this site, does anyone know how good they are? I am also on Medicaid, as well as private insurance, I need to find out if they take both because I know my private will NOT cover weightloss anything.
