I had my by-pass at Clarion in Feb. and I had a pain pump. It was called On-que and it was worn around my neck and the wire was just underneath my skin. I pulled it out 3 days after I came home (doctors orders). Sorry there was confusion,Iloved the entire staff they were all great!

Thanks for all the support.  She thought that even tho the panni was all that some needed, the way I was built she said I would still have that what I call a muffin top over my jeans.  It is so weird and I am hoping I am not the only one who does this but a few days ago I put on my size 12 jeans which were fine but changed shirts 5 times because each one made me look fat with that fat hanging over the top.  LOL   I worry now about it more than I did 90 pounds ago.

One thing that I feel better about is that Lyn and I talked about this before we had our surgery that we both would have the skin removed so I know that he would expect me to do it.  Oh how I wish he could have seen me at this size.

Thanks again,  Love you all and MISS EVERYONE       Terry

I was at St Vincents and I did not have a pain pump, never needed it.  The nurses came right away if I said I needed meds.  They were wonderful.

My grandson is 4 and we think he just might sit still for this one?

Just getting my panni gone will be wonderful.  I am so tired of the rashes and soreness!  But I have awhile still to go.  If the $3700 is do-able I would sure consider it.  After all we go through to lose the weight we deserve to have everything tighted up a bit!   Do not worry about being vain, think how much better your clothes will fit and how good you will feel.  I find I am down in pants sizes to a 12 but the waist is still be a bit snug and not as comfortable as I would like.

Didn't go through Clarian, so I don't know. But it sounds like their educators need to work more closely with the nurses and physicians and find out exactly how things go post operatively for patients so that you get the right info. Sorry things were so off base for you.

Terry, go for it girl! As I look at my hanging skin now, since having Noah, I can't wait to try to get some insurance approval to remove extra skin. You are not being vain, just 'completing the process'.

Terri you will be so happy with it.  Dr. B is amazing and I love her.  I just did the panni removal and dont regret any of it.   Do worry about the feelings you are having about it being vain or selfish.  I think that is a bit normal.  I had the same thoughts.  I just couldn't afford to do the extra but she did some of it for me and really helped me out.  She took off my belly button so she was able to include a little "extra" on the insurance bill.  She is an amazing surgeon and 4 weeks out, my incision is nearly invisible on the sides of my hips.  I can see the beginning and then very ends of the incision but the most of it dont really show.

I am sooo happy for you and I know you will love it when you see how great you feel and look.

Huge hugs!!!  And get ready cause her surgery date was only 3 weeks away when I got my approval.  It goes fast!

Love ya,
Tracy

My husband's insurance also only covered $10k for bariatrics. That included my hospital stay, medications while in the hospital, surgeon's fees, anesthesia, and bloodwork that was done pre-op.  I have everything else set up on payment plans. (almost $13,000) See if your surgeon's office/hosptial will work with you on payment arrangements so you don't have to take out a loan. (that way you can avoid interest)
