Same here, in fact I am going back again 5/4 to get my gall bladder out.  I am looking forward to being spoiled again.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

Wow you did well. I was in the hospital 11 days. Luckily I never had nausea and vomiting - just other issues. I am surprised they let you have apple juice. I'm not allowed that and I am three weeks out. My best advice: drink drink drink. And walk.

I have been back for IV fluids twice. If you get diahrrea, stop it before it makes you dehydrated, like it did me.

The day after my surgery I began running a fever. It got very high by the next day, and the doctors suspected I had a leak. When my fever hit 105+ they began packing ice around me and scheduled a second surgery to find the leak. But they didn't find one. So I had some kind of infection that they couldn't find - after all sorts of urine/blood tests and cultures. So they just fought it with antibiotics and as soon as I had a normal temp for 24 hrs they sent me home. It took a while. They never found the reason for the fever.

Oh that pain pump. I am sorry I was mixed up. They told us about the pain pump at my meeting but they also spoke about not using it as much because they found that most people either do not use it because they are scared of it, or they usually do not need it,so it was not being used as immediate, absoulute, everyone has to have one thing. I do remember that from my meeting at Clarion. I never felt like I needed one at all. They were giving me pain meds at exact intervals;and I never felt pain bad enough to want a morhine pump. but the big thing is they want you up walking really soon after your surgery. It is unsafe to walk effectivly if you are tired or groggy. Why were you there 11 days ? Is everything o.k.? Again sorry for the confusion.

Laura,
The best info I can give you is the shots are 1 of 2 things. Yes they give you shots in the belly for blood clots. Do you go home with it to give yourself shots, that is depending on how eager you are to get up and walk, how much you walk, and the distence you walk. Walking is soooo important! It helps you heal, gets rid of painful gas, prevents blood clots. And with some luck you will not have to give yourself shots at home. The other shot that may have been spoken about is the B-12 shot. That is a important vitamin that you will have to get daily doses of.At Clarion North we had a choice of either 1x a month B-12 shots, or daily sublingual pills that dissolve under your tougue. I ghose the pills, but if my levels are to low at check up time I could be made to do the shots. Trust me I do not miss a dose.I did not have to take the blood clot shot after leaving the hospital, but I was asking to walk before I was completely awake from anastesia. But I was literally walking within a hour of coming out of the recovery room. I walked my butt off, sometimes in the middle of the night with the help of the awesome nurses I had. I went home 3 days later feeling really good. What hospital are you going through? Is is a Center of Excellence? I had my first surgery at a non C of E hospital and it was awful! There is a big difference in whare you go!Talk to you soon.

Hi again, I have another question.... In support group last month someone mentioned after the rny you have to give yourself shots!! Is it for blood clot prevention? Can't remember what they said.  What's that about?  I have never heard this before!  Thanks, Laura

I had surgery 6 days ago and am starting to feel pretty normal again. Wanted to let everyone know about the experience I had at St. Vincen Carmel. I had EXCELLENT care from beginning to the end. Everyone was so kind and encouraging, some of the staff has had bariatric surgery and gave some great advice. If you are considering having WLS at St. V Carmel it is a good decision..

Well today I got a call from Jaime at Dr. Shinas office and the still dont have enough information to be able to submit. So I have to go back again and try to collect medical information and the last time it took them 3 weeks to get that to me.

On the other hand I am being told now that the 10k limit is surgical only so that could be a good thing if its true.. keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Not sure on the setting up payments thing... does credit play a part in that? Also wouldnt it still require you to have it all paid for in advance anyway? I am just frustrated and everytime I feel like I am getting close I get shoved back 2 steps.
