I am just starting the process of gathering information. I am not sure if I'd want the lap band however in Muncie that is all that is done here. I'd have to go to Indy for other types of surgery. I applied for the Healthy Indiana Plan today. I don't have insurance and the bariatric center here told me I can't attend a seminar until I have insurance. I am thinking I'd rather go to St. Vincent in Carmel instead. Has anybody been there for weight loss surgery? I chose Anthem for my plan for HIP. I hope I made the right choice. My BMI is 55.8. My weight is 305 pounds. I am 5'2" tall. I have Type 2 diabetes and take Metformin and Glimepiride. I have hypertension and take a blood pressure pill. I have sleep apnea and use a CPaP at night. I have hypothyroidism and take Levothyroxin for it. I have GERD and take Zantac for that. I think I am also getting the diabetic nerve damage in my right hand because it hurts all the time. I am 52 years old and it is time to do something about this...
Does your Insurance pay for it ? I have Medicare and medicaid. Good Luck with your surgery.
Well, congrats on your surgery. I hope it works for you.
At the time I had my surgery, St. Vincent's required that you exclusively attend their support groups pre-op, since they have them all over the state, and in locations near most of their patients.
I'm getting ready for Phase Two ( and hopefully Phase Last!) skin reduction surgery.
It was supposed to be Friday, but the surgeon's office called today and rescheduled it for Monday.
RNY gastric bypass on Jan 8 this year and I have lost 50 lbs. It's not easy I'm still trying to get used to all the vitamins and my own meds. I hope as time goes on it will be easier. I go to my surgeon appointment next month not sure what blood work they will do but I hope they check everything.Trying to get in the protein and liquid and that is a challenge.I hope you are doing good. Take care.
By now you've had your surgery, so I'm sure you gopt the question about St. V's support groups answered.
Did you get a DS or RNY/gastric bypass?
Would anyone be able to share the approximate self pay for a DS, sleeve gastrectomy or lapband in the Indianapolis/Carmel area? Thanks!
I'm 7 months out from surgery. Have lost 115 pounds . . . 60 pre and 55 post surgery. I'd like to lose 15 more pounds but find myself resorting to old habits. Getting plenty of protein in daily but am back on sugar -- my body just craves it. Have had a few episodes of overdoses of sugar [NOT FUN!]. Am looking for a sensible menu plan to follow
I know it has been a few years since the original post, but VEMMA is not a meal replacement. It is a liquid vitamin. They also have a line of energy drinks as well as BOD-e, a weight loss line, that has meal replacement shakes.
I had my surgery at St Vincents Hospital in Carmel Indiana and started in August 20013 and could of had my surgery in Dec but had it in Jan, so it could be 6 months or sooner. Good Luck
