Hi everyone one, I'm from Indy as well. I am 12 years post op RNY. I am trying to lose some of my regain from steroids and poor eating choices. I've had nothing but complications from day one, but I'm alive! I've had to be on and off high doses of steroids for years which caused me to regain 90 pounds. I have lost all but 20 pounds of it. For me it is a lot slower this far out, but as long as I keep seeing progress I am happy.

Hi! I'm in Indy!
Hello there I'm from Indianapolis Indiana also. I had RNY surgery on September 13 of 2012 and so far I've lost 100 pounds however sad to say I've gained back about 30. I have been through a lot lately and I had a lot of complications right after surgery I had developed an ulcer I had to have a pic line in my own arm for four months and just recently about four months ago after two years I had developed a blood clot on my lungs so I have been through a lot and I'm trying to pick myself back up and get back on track. I have just been feeling a little sad and a little disappointed that I have not lost more weight but at the same time I realize that I did not stay on the plan and did not exercise on a regular basis so therefore I am trying to pick myself up and start all over again I know deep down in my heart that I can go through this journey and reach my goal
I live in Indianapolis and am just starting my journey!!!
Hello im in indiana too and was born and raised in indianapolis!

I would go to Carmel. Dr. Jones was my Dr. I had my surgery at Carmel. She is now at Community. The program there is also very good. They are both centers of excellence.
Lab band is best if you don't have a lot of weight to lose. It doesn't do as much for diabetes. RNY helps to cure diabetes. I would personally make the drive to St Vincent's or Community. I would only go to a Bariatric Center of Excellence.
Look, I really do have a neck! I am truly amazed and grateful for what Dr. Catherine Winslow was able to achieve. http://www.realself.com/review/carmel-in-facelift-and-feel-1 5-years-younger-incredible-work-dr-catherine#/entry-387238
Hi kayleystar!
I'm five years out with the Duodenal Switch. My surgeon was Dr. Margaret Inman at Meridian Surgical Group. She is one of 75 surgeons worldwide who performs this particular WLS, and the only one in Indiana who does. She also does several of the other weight loss surgeries, too, in fact, I'd lay odds that she knows how to do them all! Her office is on the second floor at St. Vincent's Bariatric Center of Excellence in Carmel, Indiana.
The DS is the absolute best thing I've ever done for myself. I was at my highest 405 pounds. On surgery day 2/25/2009 I was 397. Today, I maintain my weight between 165 and 175, plus or minus two pounds. The DS allows me for the first time in my life to eat like a normal person! My weight loss was nearly effortless! That said, the vitamin regimen is brutal, that is if you do it right (just Centrum or Flintstones won't cut it!), but it is so worth the effort! Dr. Inman does other WLS procedures, too, but with my being SMO (super morbidly obese) starting out, I felt the DS was my best hope at losing the weight and keeping it of*****ake a look at the website DS Facts, and even Google it for more information. Also, there is a support group for St. Vincent's patients that meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Mishawaka Public Library on Lincoln Way East. Unfortunately, if you have surgery locally, then you have to attend that hospital's support group, but if you're going to have bariatric surgery of any kind, St. Vincent's in Carmel, Indiana (just outside Indianapolis)is the place to go. They've been doing weight loss surgery since the mid 1970's. I know, because I went to college at Indiana University in Bloomington,(1976-1983) and they were doing the surgeries that were available even then. I used to hear commercials on the radio.
Whatever you procedure you decide on, and wherever you decide to have it, make sure the decision you make is the right one *for you*.
