Ok so I have been a bit of a lurker! I am a stay at home mom with eight kids, and I have been reading along with you all for about three weeks. I had my wls about two weeks ago and I am feeling great. My question is, How much should I be able to lose each day? I was going down about 1-2 lbs. each day and know have had two days with no weight loss. No diet changes, but I have stared walking on a treadmill. Any thoughts Thanks, Carmen

I had surgery 6 weeks ago, and there are days that I don't lose anything, then I get on the scale and I've lost 4 pounds. It fluctuates a lot...you'll figure out what's right for your body. For me the surgery kinda messed with my hormones and I've had 3 periods in 6 weeks..........the weeks that I've been on my period have been times where my weight loss seemed to stall and then pick right back up. It's just your body adjusting. Just make sure that you're following the food, vitamin/supplement, liquid and exercise guidelines and you'll do what's right for your body. If you get too concerned you can always talk to a dietician! Sounds like you're doing great to me!

Goodness Gracious!! 8 kids probably give you a pretty good work out!! How old are they all? I am still pre-op so I can't really help with your question but I did have to say I admire you for being able to stay home with 8!! Sam

Weight loss is measured by calories in versus calories used. Weight loss with WLS is greatly influenced by beginning weight...the more someone weighs the more they loose in the beginning due to they are taking in around 400-700 calories a day and it takes more calories to do basic daily activites than someone weighing less (make sense?). Usually WLS patients loose between 20-40 pounds or more the first month. After that it drops off to 8-15 pounds a month-once again a lot of different factors go into that-no one is the same. The best advice I can give you would be to get a calendar....and mark the monthly anniversary of your surgery and make note of your weight that day (1st thing in the morning, nude, before taking in any fluids)and mark your calendar. I know it would be worthless to tell ya not to weigh daily (I used to weigh 3-4 times a day for the first few months )...but don't take it seriously. Sometimes the weight won't come off for a week....then all of a sudden you drop 5 pounds in 2 days. It just works that way. I am at 21 months post-op and I now weigh myself 1-2 times a month....IF I remember!! But I have been going from 146 to 151 since February and I seem to be at my body's goal. So now I gage my continued success on my clothes...if something starts getting snug..I reduce my calories for a few weeks and I am back to normal. It is amazing how 5 pounds can make a difference in a whole clothing size the smaller you get. Good luck on your journey
