I was just wondering if any of Dr Cacucci's patients have Anthemn PPO. I am getting my insurance papers all together and wondered if there is anything I should make sure and have so I get approved the first time out. I really dont have the time to do this twice since my insurance will run out on July first when the company I work for is being bought out and the new company wont have insurance for us. Thanks for any help you can share with me. I have one drs office that wont give me a copy of my records. They will send them to anthem but they wont release them to me. I have no idea the dates to put on my paperwork if I cant see the records. I you have any ideas at all I would really love it.

Hi Mariah......you have certain rights as a patient to view your own medical records. It's a law. Ask them if it is because of cost....perhaps that is a factor-if so you can offer to pay them for the photocopies. Do you have your pre-op diet requirements done? I know most of Anthem's policies require one. Otherwise I would go ahead and let the St Vincents insurance coordinator submit the request and if they turn you down...you will know exactly what it is you need without wasting any time getting things ya don't need. Good luck on your journey!!!! And let St Vincents know about your insurance issues....they can speed things up for ya!!!

HIPAA requires that the physician allow you access to your own records, but as the previous post stated, they can charge you a reasonable copying fee. You should call them and tell them you want the copies released to you, as is your right under HIPAA, and then ask them the copying charge and tell them you'll pay it. My doctor charged $15, I think this varies depending on your provider.
