Good Morning Party people! I heard from Dr. Caccuci's office last night after 4pm. Spoke with Angie this morning. I will be visiting Dr. Caccuci's office on Monday, May 8th at 8:15am for my Group session and 1 on 1 with the Dr. However, speaking to Angie, she asked about my weight blah blah and then asked about co-morbidities. I don't have any! I am 120-140lbs over weight but I don't have high cholesterol, diabetes, or anything like that. She warned me that more than likely my insurance will see it as cosmetic and not approve me. So while exciting that I am finally seeing a surgeon etc. I am not so excited because I don't think I'll be approved. Thanks for reading my rambling... P.S. Angie told me there is a $175 fee for the 1 on 1 with the Dr. and then $115 fee for the psychiatrict, Dr. Stote. I am guessing that is out of pocket correct?

Samantha, I have good insurance and they did pay for everything...except the psyche exam. That was out of pocket. Have you asked your pcp about co-morbidities? There may be some that you aren't thinking about....asthma, joint sress, sleep apnea, menstrual iregularities, gall bladder, raised liver functions, stress incontinence, back aches, glucose intollerance (not neccesarily the same as diabetes), increased tri-glycerides. That's just to name a few (most, I had..key word: HAD). Good luck! Sherri

Thanks for giving me something to think about. I do have the knee and back pain etc. I get migraines pretty severe so perhaps I can list those. When she asked me I just didn't want to start rambling off things that I were unsure as to if they were a co-morbiditiy.

Have your PCP address in a letter that your CONTINUED obesity WILL result in expensive insurance paid co-morbidities treatments. The only co-mo I had was PCOS and a slightly elevated blood pressure which my insurance felt "could" be treated with medications and not WLS surgery. A very nice CSR for the insurance company told my PCP's office to have the PCP write in his letter of medical necessisity that in his medical opinion my continued obesity WOULD (not could but "would") result in expensive co-mo's and then he listed several. Just something to think about and perhaps talk over with your PCP or whomever.

I didn't really have any huge co morbids either. But my PCP had determined during my 6 month supervised thing that I had edema, insulin intollerance, definatly some joint pain in my knee, irregular menstraul cycles, those kinds of things.

Thanks! I will talk with my PCP and see what we can get figured out. Before I started thinking about weight loss surgery I recorded all the diets, weight losses, and gains for the past 5 years. I also included the symptoms I suffer from now. Hopefully that can be of some help. O/T but Darrah how do you like the new job?

Actually, I left that job... it was a scam. The company misrepresented itself AND the job I would be doing. I'm now pretty well forced into take a job I'm horribly over qualified for for far too little money. But some money is better than none, right?

Oh I am so sorry to hear that! Some money is better than none for sure...those bill collectors are always going to be around. I feel ya for sure on the over qualified and under paid part! I'm straight out of college and if I stick it out, I'll get promoted is what I keep telling myself...
