This is so painful... any ideas or suggestions
Hi everyone,
Well today I started a new part-time job, where my husband works, and I have really wanted this for a long time and now that I have been given the position I am having a problem!!!!
First let me tell ya it is a walking, standing on my feet position, which I am not used to doing, my regular job is an office job and I sit majority of the time, anyway after only being there about an hour and a half I had this TREMENDOUS burning sensation in my left leg on the side towards my thigh more, it feels like electricity, nerve burning! Even after being at home it is still burning, but during my 3 hour shift it became so intense that I broke out in a very bad sweat and felt like I was going to pass out for a moment, things got a little dazy for a few, tried sitting down on the stool but that made it more intense, so I finally went to the restroom washed my face off with a cold tissue and sat in the stall for a few minutes until I felt better, anyway my question is, why, I feel so stupid this job is so easy and I would really love it and would be awesome at it however I am so scared because of this happening today, I have left a message with my family Dr. who should be calling back tomorrow, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this, I am so upset, I just felt like I would be ready for this since I am down nearly 70lbs and feel good finally about myself, but now I wonder if this is permanent because of me carrying this extra weight for so long, plus I feel bad because it is happening at my husband's place of employment... sorry to ramble, I am just scared, embarrassed, and in some pain, but nowhere near as bad as I was while I was up and on my feet earlier, any advice or suggestions? Anyone else experience this? Did it go away with more weightloss? Could this be permanent?
Thanks Dawn

I totally believe in Chiropractic, it has helped me tremendously. You would not believe all of the ailments that they can help with. Let me know if you need help finding a good one, mine is great. Insurance sometimes covers it, but generally the doctors don't charge that much if your insurance doesn't. Do you live on the East Side of Indy?
It is my understanding that if your doc writes you a script for the chiropractor it should be covered by insurance. Also, I agree with icing it down, exercising or even doing stretches..I think we have our bodies so out of whack from being over weight that it takes time and some adjustments to get it back the way it should be. Don't think because the weight is gone you can miraculously lift weights, run a marathon or even stand doing work if it's something you arnt use to doing.
Around here we have a rehab center that I have working with in marketing..they are working on a program just for bariatric patients, teaching us the correct way to start an exercise program..I am hoping we see more and more of this all the time!
You did right by having it checked out with your doc first..
Don't give up!!!

Dawn,
First, let me tell you how sad I feel for you. I'm sure that is not why you wrote that post, but I just have been in your situation before. My husband and I worked together for about 5 years before the company we worked for shut down. I remember several times feeling embaressment for him (more than me) for being unable to participate in company outtings such as a trip to Kings Island and not being able to fit into a booth one time at a lunch meeting with a client.
But, I also know that you are doing something different now more than you were before. I'm sure it was nothing major. But, I'm glad that you called your Doctor. Definately call your gastric bypass doctor before you take any meds just to be sure.
Congrats on getting the job, though! I hope that you find a way to make this job fit into your life. It's always good to find the "right" job, no matter what it is... if it makes you happy, that is always a good thing.
I guess worst case scenerio, if you have to quit, then you can always agree that you will tell your part time employer that you were offered a promotion at your regular full time job that required you to work different hours or longer hours and you can no longer work a part time job.
Good luck!
