Bad Taste in Mouth...... HELP!!
Good morning, all! Ok, I have a crazy question. I am 12 days postop and for the last few days I have had a really bad taste in my mouth. Is this normal?? Or is this something I should contact my doctor about. It is just driving me crazy! Other then a bad taste in my mouth, I am doing quite well. Thanks, Tammy
Tammy,
Actually, it's something to contact the dieticians about. It's from lack of carbs in your diet. They will probably have you drink some juice or gatorade. What you described is ketosis (yep, there's a name to it!). If your body doesn't find carbs in your bloodsteam, instead of eating up the fat, it can start to eat at healthy tissue, like muscles. A little bit of juice helps this immensly. Call or email the dieticians. They'll let you know what to do. In the meantime, I used to use Listerine breath strips to help battle the taste.

Tammy I asked the same question it is because your body dosen't have the sugar you have been getting, this is telling you that your body is using your stored body something. LOL I can't think of what it called, sorry, but it is ketosis state, I think that is how it is spelled, Drink 1/2 and 1/2 water and Welch's grape juice. You must use Welch's grape due to 100 % juice it has the real fruit sugar and real grape, and diffently use the water, anything less will upset your tummy and it will go straight through you. I thought I knew what I was doing and I went 3/4 juice and 1/4 water, big mistake. You can check with a deitan, if you want but this is what I was told, the breath will just get worse. I will tell you that to be honest, if you stay in the ketosis state you lose more. You can use breath strips to help with the breath, make sure sugar free though. Hope this helps.
