Good morning all! Hopefully we have better weather today than yesterday! I am so happy to be off the soft foods menu, but I never want to even LOOK at another piece of chicken. It seems that I cannot tollerate it . I've been sticking mostly to fish, and I seem to do okay with that, but I detest seafood. But ya gotta eat, right? I have a question that might seem kinda icky, but, if anyone knows the answer, it's you guys. I go anywhere from about 3-5 days without a bowel movement, and when I do go, it's certainlly NOT 3-5 days worth of food. I have been taking a stool softner with a laxative in it daily to no avail. I also tried to take some milk of magnesia. The bottle says "refreshing mint flavor!" but it tastes like "Refreshing two week old dead fish flavor!" to me. So thats a no go. My dad suggested i use a fleet enema. I've never used one before, and was wondering if these are okay for us?

Darrah, I took a tip from Angie and started taking a cod liver fish oil capsule every night. I know since I started this my bowels are pretty regular and they say it is good for your skin and hair too. I find the only time I have problems is if I find I am not getting in enough liquids. I try really hard to drink alot before bed so I can really flush my system each morning. You are doing Great Girl! This journey has been such an amazing experience.....I marvel each day at how much of me has melted away I am down 50 pounds for my 8 weeks post op and feeling great! Keep up the great work and Darrah I love your perfect description on your profile for the pressure of bad food feeling like an alien ready to rip out your chest......lol too acurate for words!! Have a wonderful day all!! Keep Blooming! ((((HUGS))))) Marianne

Hi Darrah~ I am right there w/ you when it comes to the bowels. I get really, really bad gas but I only have a movement 2 x's a week. And it certainly isn't a few days worth! I had to take a laxative last week to get things moving and I started back up on the benefiber this week. Hopefully things will get back to "normal" for us soon. Jaimee

Darrah, I had tried the fibers (like benefiber, metamucil) and the laxatives (MOM, etc.). I've never had a problem getting enough liquids in (now, I usually get 150-200 oz a day). The only thing that I had found to work well for me was Dieter's Tea. It's tea bags located in the tea section at the Walmart Neighborhood stores. It's herbal & decaf. I had asked the dieticians about this when I first discovered it and they ok'ed it for me. I wouldn't think fleets would hurt occationally but I don't think I'd want to make a routine use out of it. I didn't get any aversions to meat (just potatoes, pasta's & rice), but I know that ham was the easiest thing for me to eat & it stay down. Chicken breast were tough because it was so dry. Once I could add catup without getting an ulcer, chicken breast were good to go. Until then, I was a leg & thigh lover. Sherri
