Any Advice?
Hi everyone, I am getting ready to have my first appt. with Dr. Cacucci on April 10th. I have already called my ins. and have a pending approval. They will have to send clinicals and a letter. Is there anything I can do to speed the process up or questions I should ask? I am looking at RNY. How long did it take till you were able to have surgery? Like most people I have a problem with wanting immediate gratification... Thanks for your time!
Not what you want to hear, but you just have to be patient. If your insurance is already pending approval before seeing the surgeon you should be in good shape. When approved you'll just have to wait until she can get you on the schedule. You will have to go thru all the pre-op testing and nutrition pre-op class. The time seems to drag on but when you look back on it, it seems to come and go before you know it. Then you have to be patient as those pounds just melt away. Good luck!
For me the process was very quick. I was approved mid November 2005, called to schedule surgery and they asked if I wanted it done before the end of the year! I had to say no because I didn't have any vacation time yet. I was scheduled for 1/06, but insurance decided not to cover the surgery in 2006. I got a call on 12/28 and was told to stop eating and they'd see me the next day for surgery! I was so excited, but got jipped out of my last meal. 12 wks out-- and 60 pounds lighter!!
After your approval comes through, they will be able to schedule you fairly soon! A month isn't long to wait after waiting years to feel better!
I sound so impatient, don't I. The reason I want to have it soon is that we will be going to India sometime between August and October. I want to be past the first few months so my tummy will be more settled and hopefully resolve any complications that might arise. Not to mention I would like to be a little smaller for those plane seats...oh my! Last time I almost had to peal myself out of a couple. If I can't get in, within a few months I will have to wait till November or December. I would just like to be on my way. I am surprised at how soon some of you have made it in for surgery. That really gives me some hope. You ladies are wonderful. Thank you for being so kind and supportive!
Wow! I am reading all of your posts about how quickly you were able to have your surgeries. I went for my initial consult with Dr. Cacucci on March 10th and I had my surgery on July 30, 2003!! I know it was almost 3 years ago, but wow!!!
I absolutely Dr. Cacucci and she was always very encouraging. I never had any complications or problems.......for that I am SO thankful!!
Best of luck to those of you who are awaiting your surgeries and to those who are just at the beginning of your journey!!!
Hugs,
Sandy
