Any Lap Bands here?
Don't be dishearted. Your still in the healing phase and you will probably gain some weight. Don't expect to loose weight till probably after your second fill. I know it's hard espically if your support group is filled with RNY'ers because you get to hear all the grand stories about them loosing large amounts of weight. Just remember that your's is a slower loss and it WILL come. Just sit back and heal for right now. Remember your water and protein intake. When you get your first fill (should be about six weeks out) you'll be able to have a little bit more control over your eating but your basically fresh out of surgery, into recovery so - recover... don't worry about the weight loss or gain right now.

I had the lap-band in January. My surgery was at St. V's. I just had my first fill last Friday and I have good restriction. I've been very happy with my decision so far. I have noticed that lap-bands are definitely the minority in Indiana. I went to one support group meeting at St. V's and there were no other lap-band patients there, so I tend to get my support and information from the lap-band board here.

Yes, I went to my first post op support group last night and I was the only one. One guy even questioned me why I didn't have the RNY. I said I never even considered surgery until I heard about the lapband. My sister and her husband have had 4 surgeries between them, silastic banded gastroplasties and a RNY, and I just won't go there. They had all lost at least 10 lbs per week, and I have lost 11 lbs in the two weeks since surgery.
I'm glad there are a few of us on here. Looks like we are all from different hospitals though!
