Other Peoples Comments

Okay, maybe I am overly senstive today but sometimes I cannot stand the comments that people make about my weight loss. I bought this really cute new outfit from Kohl's, it's a Dasiy Fuentes tailored boot leg pants w/ jacket and a cute little tank underneath. It is very figure flattering because of the cut. Today 3 different people have said to me "Your so skinny, I hate you!". One of them backed it up with "You've always been bigger than me, I'm going on a diet because I won't let you be smaller than me". And then another said "Wow....your my size....I am so fat". Okay I know these people don't mean to be malicious but I hate when people compliment and insult you at the same time! Does anyone have a good come back line? Jaimee

Just smile and say "Thank you!" and be glad you don't have to be in their shoes anymore!

Just gotta remember it's their own insecurities......that's why they say those things. When I told my mom about my WLS she says, "Well then I guess that'll give me motivation to start losing weight, too". People, even skinny people, have low self-esteem and in order to bring themselves up they say things to themself like, well at least i'm not as big as so and so, or so and so will always be bigger than me...........well, you're changing for yourself and they are forced to be out of their comfort zone. Be grateful that you're not them and that you're making positive changes in your life. We're all very proud of you and how well you've done. And those people are, too (hence the compliments), but they're also not very happy with themselves (hence the insult with it). Hope that makes some sense. Keep up the great work!!!!!

Thanks Mel! I often forget that some skinny people could be weight conscious as well. I also remember trying to find another fat person so I wasn't the biggest in the room! I just wish people would think a little before they speak! Thanks for the kind words!! Jaimee

Just smile ever so sweetly and say, "Why thank you! I know there was a compliment in there somewhere!!"
