Has anyone had Dr Hughes @ St Vincent?
As you all know I was seeing Dr Lindsay at Franklin hospital, but due to the new changes in MEDICARE, you now have to go to a BARATRIC SURGERY CENTER OF EXCELLENCE.Well as of today, I received a call from Eileen at Franklin and was told that as of now ST.V's is one of those and the only one in the state of Indiana.I was actualy thinking of going to Dayton,OH.I called and left all my info and was told it would be put on his desk along with a few others, he would decide weather it was yes or no then they would contact me.I just am looking for someone who has had this Dr. and what he is like and if they had any problems after surgery. Thanks all.
I had Dr. Huse and I was impressed with his professional maner and his patience, He takes his time at my appointments to listen to what i have to say, compliments me on my success and seems genuine in his concern for my condition. I had very little pain after surgery which i give him and his skill alot of credit for. I had my last pain meds the day after surgery. I was uncomfortable but not really in great pain. I am 4 months out and have lost 70 lb. I highly recommend Dr. Huse, I thought he was awsome.
I wish you luck with whom ever you choose.. i have heard good things about all of them. Carla
Have heard but good things about any of the surgeons at St V's. Glad to hear things are moving along for you now
There will be more hospitals getting their approval shortly-just takes so long for the government to move St Francis will be added to the list also as well as many others.
Good luck and hope you get a speedy answer
i have had him twice and i adore him. his bedside manner is fantastic. he is very complimentary and encourages me each time i see him. if you read his bio he is listed as one of the fathers of baratric surgery. he help start many programs. he seems to me to have a wonderful understanding of all the psychological as well as physical changes we go through. he never made me feel like any less a person for being overweight. i think he is one of the best around
feel free to email me with any other questions. [email protected]. put dr huse in the subject line so i will know its not junk mail

i had dr. huse as my surgeon and i have only GREAT things to say about him. as a person who had an early version of bariatric surgery 26 years ago, i needed a surgeon who was very experienced and dr. huse certainly filled that requirement.
my surgical experience has been complication-free, and my weight loss is going very well. dr. huse and st. vincent's have my whole-hearted recommendation!
best of luck to you.

Hi Cindy....I too had Dr. Huse. He is a WONDERFUL man...very kind, caring, patient, encouraging, and the skill is amazing. I had RNY on 10/31/05, & 3 hernias repaired at the same time. I had minimal pain, and was out of the OR in 1 1/2 hrs. I've had some complications since, but would do it again in a heart beat, and would recommend Dr. Huse to ANYONE..he's the Father of Bariatric in IN, & has been doing what he does since 1978...you can read about him at the Dr. Huse Patient Forum, or visit his web-site!!! Best wishes on your search & journey!!! "HUGZZZZZZZZZZ" ~~~Shari

Hi again Cindy, I had my initial consultation, and they said it would take at least a week to get the paperwork to my insurance. I gave them that week, and nothing was there, so I was told to give it at least another week, so I did, and once again nothing was at my insurance. I called Dr. Huse's office, and they faxed all the info 3 times, and I stayed on my insurance as soon as I knew they had the info they needed. I called them daily to ask if a decision had been made, and within 5 business days I had an approval. I was so thankful, because I had read some horror stories about what people have went through with their insurance companies. I have Private Health Care Systems: Principal Life...so it all depends on what the qualifications are that your insurance have for you to meet!!! Best wishes, and keep your head high...hopefully everything will work out!! "HUGZZZZZZZZ" ~~~Shari
