120 lbs and 120 lbs. but.........
It ,may be what your eating, Could you have developed lacose intollerance, when you drink milk, or dairy products. Is it a particular meal or food, are you eating too fast, drinking, not drinking? Do you take a proton pump inhibitor, ie...Rx Prevacid, Prilosec? Im not sure if Cr. Gupta Perscribes these or not but your pcp can perscribe them for you. I am 3 years out, and Dr Gupta just did my EGD scope and said with the burnig and nausea and pain I have I must have and ulcer in the old stomach. I take prevacid and have for 10 years. She said to up the prevacid to 2 a day, she didnt see any ulcers or problems with my pouch. She is a great surgeon and she did my husband and daughters RNY, but unfortunatly I didnt get to have her I went to another hospital and another doctor, since St. V was backed up for 6 months to a year to have the surgery. I would recomend her to anyone is great! Good luck I hope you find the reason, but do ask your pcp to put you on one of the drugs I mentioned. Rosemary
I do take Prevacid and have for 10 years. I had an EGD on March 2nd. It showed nothing. I had an MRCP, HIDA scan as well as an ultrasound. It only showed a distended gallbladder and dilated common bile duct. All of which doesn't reallt mean much. Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. If you think of anything else, please let me know. Have a good day Rosemary.
Gary,
Welcome to the boards! You and I sure have a lot in common! I am 6 months out and I can finally keep food down. Like you, I had every test under the sun and there was nothing physically wrong with me. I think sometimes our pouches are just very sensitive. I was literally throwing up almost every single thing that I ate the 1st 6 months. But things have started to get better. I still can't do animal protein but luckily there are supplements that help me get my protein in. I do alot of protein drinks, high protein yogart, cottage cheese and high protein cereal. How far out are you?
Jaimee
Thanks for the reply Jaimee. So there is hope after 6 months huh? I will take that. I found out that all protein mixes cause the nausea and adds diarrhea also. I have tried 11 different kinds without luck. I am 127 days post op and weighed today and have lost 127 lbs. At this rate I will get down to my original weight soon....8 lbs 6 ozs. LOL I can keep protein shakes down so that helps. If you have any other recomendations, please let me know.
Have a great day Jaimee.
Gary
Hi Gary I was one of those who got sick and threw up a lot too. Always nauseated until about the 10th month or so. And I still have never regained my full appetite. But I get in enough food to keep me healthy and my body is still loosing slowly but surely-even at 19 months post-op.
I just got used to the feeling and have learned to cope. I know that's not a good answer-but it is how I have dealt with this problem. I did have an ulcer 12 months out-which has since healed by taking Nexium daily-I still take it.
Recently I have been getting very bad legs cramps. Called my PCP yesterday and she put me on Flexerol muscle relaxer and I am eating 1-2 bananas a day to increase my Potassium and I have increased my Calcium to 1600 mg a day at her directions-she feels I may be low on those 2 nutrients. She is going to review my last labs to verify that.
Good luck on your journey!!!

Hi Gary...I think we met in the hospital...this is Shari from Mooresville. I just wanted to congradulate you on your AWESOME success, and I hope you can find out what's causing your problems. I know that if I don't eat often enough I tend to get the nauseating feeling, but as soon as I eat I'm ok...I eat at least every 3 hours, plus that helps me get my protein in!!! Best wishes & keep up the EXCELLENT job!!! ~~~Shari
Hi Gary,
I remember you because you were so nice & friendly!!! I remember you having a full time nurse by your side always...I always thought that was so nice. I just can't remember her name sorry. I think I know it, but I don't wanna say and be wrong!!! As of today I'm down 93 lbs...I've learned over the last 3 weeks that PROTEIN is my break through. I hadn't done very good with the protein since the very beginning, and wa****ting plateaus at least every other week, or sometimes I wouldn't lose for 2 wks at a time, so I upped my protein the last 3 weeks and have lost every week...WOO HOO!!! I've had my moments, I just went in 2 Fridays ago for what I HOPE was my LAST endoscopy...it made my 5th. I ended up having a bleed in the recovery room, for my first one, and then my gastric outlet kept closing to 3mm, then they found an ulcer, but it is now gone...thank goodness!!! Hopefully I won't have any more probs...it's all been worth it though!!! I hope you can find out what's going on with you and get it worked out!!! Keep me posted and tell your personal nurse I said "HI"!!! You can email me anytime if you'd want my email is [email protected]'d love to hear about your journey!!! Keep up the awesome job, I'm glad to see you posting on here!!! Take care!!! ~~~Shari
