9 days out and have a question

I am presently 9 days out and doing really well in the healing department. Food intake has been pretty much by the book also. My real concern is that I have Night Eating Syndrome (NES) and after just 3 days post-op the urges were back, and as bad as ever. If you have never had the problem, do some reading. Locking things up and such is worthless. There has been major research at Pensylvania School of medicine that will confirm this. Is there any hope or am I doomed?

I knew some one else that has NES and he was very concerd about having the sergery and the NES being a really big problem, I can't tell you what to do because I have not had this myself, but I do have more problems wanting to munch or eat after dinner I used before and did really well the first 2 months after surgery but have been dealing with it again. I do know that this man also had the same surgeron, I would call your wls doctor and tell him what is going on. Lisa B

My dog always gets me up in the middle of the night to go out. I started the bad habit of eating something while waiting for her to come back in before surgery. Now I either grab a bottle of water or if I really want to chew on something i'll eat a string cheese. Just keep heathty things around.

I have never heard of this NES, but I bet I have it. I still have problems with this, but I take Ambien to keep me asleep through the night. This seems to really really REALLY help me. I do still have MAJOR cravings while I am falling asleep though... so I prepare a small plate of peeled apples, strawberries or oranges for bedtime. The crispyness of the apples usually takes care of the old "Chip" loving nights. I'm going to have to look into this NES. Thanks! Heather 301/167/160
