I just received my renewal papers for my Anthem PPO Insuance today at work and there are some changes that are taking effect for Obesity. It looks like they are not going to cover Weight Loss Medication anymore, they also seem to say that any complications from weight loss surgery will not be covered at all. So, even a endo for a stricture they are not covering anymore. WOW. I forgot to bring it home with me, but tomorrow I am going to copy the entire section for you all and paste it word for word. -Heather

it will be a policy thing, some will still cover, i sure am not able to see how they can not cover something that was already done...hopefully this is all wrong

Yikes! That is pretty scary! I think my post op hospital bills due to issues were probably almost as much as my original surgery bill. BTW, you are looking great Heather!!! Jaimee

Depends on the policy I guess...the federal Anthem obesity coverage was widened to include dietitian counseling for this year as well as paying for 50% of health club memberships. And they dropped the co-pays for outpatient services like labs, xrays and the $100 co-pays for endos. Course working for Uncle Sam...they can afford those high premiums (I pay $200/mo...the government pays $700/mo for my coverage). Not all employers can afford policies like that for their employees....it's outrageous how much insurance coverage is....but someone has to pay for those fancy new hospitals being built And the cost for medical service is outrageous to cover those fancy new facilities
