Medicare & Medicaid huh!
Well, I am flustrated and bumb out. I just found out that Medicare will not cover the surgery if it is not done at a "ASBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence" and there are none in Indiana. My surgoen is working on getting the Hospial certifide, who knows how long that will take. I will finish up my six months of hurdles next week. I was hoping to have Dr. Lindsay do the surgery. I am thankful that I have family in another state that is certified. I realize what a set back this is to people who do not have any other option. This is why so many of Americans are on antidressents, and why so many are in nut houses. It is inferating that the goverment has to do this. Its suposed to make things better.
I wish you all the best of luck in your fight with the insurance and with the out come of you surgery.
Take Care, God Bless!
Love,
Snugglebunny
The new guidelines and law was just passed 2 weeks ago Sherie....There will be several hospitals in Indiana approved within the next few months....it's the government and they move slow. There are only a handful of hospitals that have been approved so far...and many more to come. Both St Francis and St Vincents meet the criteria...they just haven't been added to the list yet. They will be...be patient.
I just checked the list and St. Vincents - Carmel is on there. It might have JUST been added because a week ago or so I don't remember any in Indiana being there. http://www.surgicalreview.org/locate.html
