Another post...I'm one week post op and I am still getting sharp pain through the gut. When I lie on my drain hole site, I get a sharp wake up call, that's understandable. But sometimes I'll be riding in the car, like today, and all of a sudden I can't take the bumps. I'm in agony. Is this normal? How long does it last?

I'm not sure if yours was lap or open, but mine was open and I was in pain for a couple of weeks and still tender for a little while after that. Hope this helps a little. -Courtney

I had sharp pains for a while...mostly on the right waistline hole.. I think everyone is a little different. If it goes on to long or hurts too much call your Drs nurse.. she will relieveyour feers.. Best wishes... this IS STILL the best thing you have ever done for yourself... sometimes it just takes a month to realize it... Linda

I had a lot of pain on my left side, at my larger incision site. At my 4 week check-up I asked about it. Dr. Evanson showed me the size of the instrument that was put through at that site and it was rather large! He told me that some people have pain for a couple of months. He said that it is the muscle trying to heal and it will have spasms. I was much better about a week later. -- Angie C.

I had a lap RUNY with no drainage tube, & yep, I sure hurt the first month. I called the Dr. & they said that it is normal. The nerve endings & muscles are repairing, & it will get better. I agree with everyone, if it gets unbearable, call your Dr. They can give you something for it. Take care. You made the right decision, just let your body heal, & don't try to do too much at first. ((hugs)) Ellen
