I'm at three weeks + post-op and I still don't have much energy, and I don't get hungry at all. I realize having this surgery when I'm in my 50's makes it a bit harder, but how long does it take to get back some energy and an appetite? Also, is there _any_ protein shake recipie that isn't sweet? I'm so tired of chocolate and vanilla glop I could scream.

wish i had no idea what you were saying on protein drinks, gnc is the place to go and see what they have there you are able to deal with.... not sure your age has much to do with the energy, you just had some major surgery and takes time to build back up from that... I know ed kept saying where is the energy you have,. i said it takes time and he is 56 to be 57 in a few days, i was almost 52 when i had mine.. but you will hear these young ones as well...takes time....its gonna come, i swear dr clark put ants in my pants...

I am 50 and it took me about 4-6 weeks to actually build up alot of energy.. I upped my b-12 sublingual to 2x a week and started exercising/walking more.. it pepes up the endorphins and actually starts giving you more natural energy.. Never could tolorate the protien suppliments.. I ate string chees and drank milk thats how I got it all in... The people who actually do the protien drinks are to be Linda

Give it time sweety....ya just had major surgery and it takes time to recover. The more you move....the more energy you get in return...just need to kick in that metabolism and get your blood flowing. It gets easier as you start loosing significant amounts of weight....a year from now you will forget how tired you were in these 1st few months.
