Very Discouraged
hi I don't imagine most of you remember me, so here it goes. I am 8 months out I weigh today 191 lbs, that is down 77lbs since surgery and 95lbs from my highest weight. I have not lost a lb since before thanksgiving. I started working out 2 weeks before thanksgiving and continue to workout everyday (m-f) up until 2 weeks ago when I became extremely discouraged. I started writing down everything I ate and know I am not doing really well on my diet. I also need a support group really bad and live to far away from Indy to drive. I know there is a support group in Bloomington and possibly in Seymour. If anyone has any information on these I would love to have it. no one around me understands and they are all tired of hearing about my journey. Someone please help me find my way. I feel so lost!!!!!
Hi Sheila I was slowing down on my loss (have always lost slow actually). So I started to keep a food journal too...and found I was taking in less than 800 calories a day at 18 month post-op
So I had to keep track to make sure I was getting between 1200-1500 calories a day...it helped to keep the journal. Made me realize what I was eating. BUT last week I had a nightmare that I weighed 178...I weighed when I got up and sure enough, I had gained 6 pounds. I know where it came from too...I had eaten some left over valentines Dove Hearts So now I am back to eating only good things again and I am back down 3 pounds. But yesterday I dropped back below the 1000 calorie mark again....it's a constant battle
Keep up the journal and keep coming here for support until you find a local support group...it helps to talk things out...then you can be open with yourself and you will find the problems and fix them And we all know what you are feeling and going through...we all have to fight the good fight...so know that you have friends here
I have read on here where some people went back to the basics for a week or two...eating 3 times a day...focusing on protein again with no snacks. Not sure if anyone had any success with that or not. And Angie is right....muscle weighs more than fat...and takes up less space pound for pound than fat...so while your scales may not move...you may be loosing inches. Are your clothes still getting smaller?
Come join us in April for the clothing exchange!!! Would love to meet ya!!!
Contiuned good luck on your journey

I havent lost much for months either... I even gained 6 pounds in the hospital with this new knee..I think it weighs alot.. But my clothes ARE fitting alot looser.. even some of my larges are a bit baggy... Could be you are gaining muscle.. but muscle eats fat!!! I would rather be muscular then jiggly..

Hi, Sheila
I go to a support group meeting on Thursday once a month at the City Hall in Columbus, IN its form 5:30 to 7:00pm March 9th. They also have one in Franklin on Wednesdays once a month March 22 from 5:30 to 7:00pm at Johnson Memeorial Hospital. It is a wonderful support group and you don't have to a patient of Dr. Lindsays to attend. Also some of the ladies at our last support group meeting have had the same problem. Elieen Williams the Nurse quardiater was there and said that you need to increase your water intake and your protein intake, that should help. She has had the surgery and so had a few other nurses of Dr. Lindsays. Muscel does way more than fat. Continue to excersice and if you are still not losing weight try and change your routine do some differant excersices or add something new. Limit your carbs, carbs are so bad. I have also found that summer sizing helps with the meals and the way some foods work or don't work with other foods. I have tryed it and it works. I am some what new to this site also. I have yet to have surgery and I can't wait for the new me. Good Luck! Don't give up! this is a great site for incouragment and support.
Take Care, God Bless!
Love,
Snugglebunny
