post ops: drinking from straws

I was told by the baritatric office that I was not allowed to drink from straws after surgery but when I go out to restaurants, I just cant stand to drink from the cup directly so I wanted to know if anyone else sips from straws after surgery????? Finda Nessy

YES I DO!!! I find it gives me LESS gas...just try not to inhale the air that comes out of the straw before the liquid... Hope this helps... -court

So very glad to hear this feedback, I have sensitive teeth and the cold drinks are a killer. Ahhh, back to my straws (or sissy sticks) as my hubby calls them. Julie

I suck exahale then drink from those straws now.. when your "sipping" your not usually eatting out much anyway.. who wants to put their mouth on someone elses glass??? not from a resturant I dont!! Linda
