My highest BMI was 56 when I weighed 347 in 2002. I had a BMI of 47.7 when I had my surgery. I am now at a BMI of 23.8. I will be at 22.5 when I reach my goal of 140. Just 8 more pounds Funny thing is...when I first started my WLS journey...my focus was on my BMI and not the weight loss...and I was so focused on getting below 25 so I could be in the "normal" range Happy journey fellow loosers!!

Deb, According to http://www.pfamos.org/Pfamos_Calc.htm, I started at a BMI of 55.5...what they consider 'Super Morbid Obese'. My heaviest was 56.8. I am now at 29.4...still 'overweight' but what an improvement! LOL! Isn't it just so great to see that number go down? My goal is 140 too. I set it there because it would put my BMI right in the middle of 'normal'. I'll bet if you could go ahead and have your ps done, you would find you are under your goal. I'm targeting having mine when I get ~160. I am betting they will remove pretty close to 20 lbs with the ps. Congrats for being in the normal range. You are such an inspiration to all of us!! Sherri

My goal of 140 is for BEFORE plastic surgery I should end up between 130-135 as a long term goal to maintain The plastic surgeon told me the closer to my goal I am when I have plastics...the tighter everything will be...and it's very painful So I want to make sure I get the best results possible and never go through the pain again If I had everything done that I want...I would probably have 12-18 pounds of skin....but I am only having a tummy tuck, breasts lift & enhanced and my under arms done...doctor said maybe 5-7 pounds of skin. Would loveeeeeeeeeee to be able to do a body lift...get my thighs and butt lifted up to normal Oh well...they are easily hidden

Dr. Cacucci hasn't set a goal for me yet, but according to her papers she sent my insurance my ideal weight should be 136-150. But... I really can't see myself EVER only weighing 150, and made myself a more "reasonable" goal of 165 which JUST puts me into the "normal" BMI. Do you think its okay that MY goal isn't as low was hers? My goal with this surgery wasn't to become super skinny, but just healthy.

The truth Darrah? I would have been happy with anything under 200 That's why when I began my journey I bought all those size 14's...that was my 'dream' size...which I got into at 165. I think your body will know where it is comfortable at and it will balance out on it's own. I no longer think "dieting" in my head. I just eat when I am supposed to and try to stick with the healthy food choices and I keep loosing. I figure every pound below 165 is a bonus I know I wasn't expecting it I only set my goal at 140 when I saw it was going to get there. I was down to 178 at 1 year out...and told myself if I didn't loose another pound I would be ok with 178. But my body isn't done yet so I will just keep eating right and let it come to it's own weight that it likes. Yours will do the same. 18 more sleeps for you girl!!! Are ya getting excited yet?

Darrah, My doctor had a goal for me of 180 lbs. I am 5'8" and weighed in at 301 when I started. I reached 180 at around 9 months out and I am now at 172-175 (depending on the day). So, I'm just happy to be where I am at 10 months out. I wouldn't worry so much. I'm sure you will do just fine! Heather
