Need help ......Just thinking
Hi everyone Its been awhile since I have posted. Hope everyone is doing great. I'm down 97lbs and for some reason lately I do not have energy to even exercise. I have a few questions. First, After working for an automotive company for 12 years they had to downsize and I was caught in it. This took place late last year. I have worked out of the house since I was 16 (almost 20 years). I hate to say it but I am enjoying staying home. Being here for my 4 year old daughter and being home when my 13 year old is getting up for school and coming home from school. I really missed a lot with my 13 year old when he was growing up. My husband works and has a good job but I know when unemployment runs out that I need to find a job to help pay bills. I have been thinking about taking up babysitting. Does anyone else have a daycare ot take care of kids?? Do you have a contract that parents have to sign? I used to pay $75 a week for my daughter at the babysitters. To me it was fair (4:30 am - 4:30 pm). I was just wondering if someone can help me get information. Sorry so long. The other side of staying home is our house is always clean, when I was working the house came last because I was working 12 + hours a day and even weekends. Thanks Everyone
Wow...what a neat idea....Check with the state to see how many kids you can watch without a license...I think it's like less than 4...but never looked into it myself.
You will need to keep good records of expenses-separate bank account, etc, etc for tax purposes and you will have to give your Social Security Number to your clients so they can report it on thier returns. For tax information, just call 1-800-829-1040 and they can send you publications for small business record keeping.
Also, there are downloadable simple contracts FREE online that you could customize for your clients to sign.
Good luck with your idea...hope it all works out for you...would be nice to stay home and be there with your kids
Thanks Deborah for all the information you have provided. I never thought I would be able to handle kids all day long but since having surgery and being home since the downsizing - I know I can do it. I have mre confidence in myself. I help with the preschool with my daughter and 4h programs with my husband and enjoy it.
I need to get a picture on my profile someday.
oh my, you must have nerves of steel to wanna watch kids...though i know it works for many stay at home ladies...i say go for it...i have not had a sitter in about 20 years, but i know it can sure be expensive and people pay the sitter no matter should they go on vacation or be sick, great on your weight loss too....toot toot
Thanks Sweet Tweety. The weight lose is going good but lately I haven't really exercised SHAME ON ME. At my last check up the dietian said I was losing to fast that I needed to slow down. My top weight was 241 and today I weighted 144.5. I am willing to try child care as long as I can stay home with my kids and be able to see my husband and cook. I know my husband likes me being home also but I know things will start getting tight financially when my unemployment runs out. I am hoping one of the times that events are scheduled (maybe April clothes exchange) I can make it down to see everyone.
