Vision changes post-op?

I know during pregnancy the extra fluids and extra weight you carry can change your prescription so I was wondering if that happen after WLS too (though obviously in reverse since I'll be weighing less) I'm due for an eye exam in a couple weeks, but I don't want to spend the money if by the end of the year the prescription won't be accurate since insurance only covers an exam every 2 years. Just wondered if anyone else had noticed this or if I can safely get some new glasses. Thanks!

Well...my vision is awful....not sure if it's from the weight loss or just old age But it's time for bi-focals Actuallt...mine is age related. Sorry can't help ya. But I would think if it's a measurable side effect...it would be something they would mention as a side effect prior to surgery eh?

I would wait to get your eyes tested for at least 8 month unless it get were you can't see well . I do think the surgery and the change causes eyes to change. I know a difference, but I am going to wait as long as I can before I do mine again. Lisa

At the "Newbie" class I went to last week, they stated that your eyes do change after surgery- for awhile. Sometimes it takes up to 6 mo. for them to settle down. I had mine checked 3 weeks ago, & found out mine has changed for the better-distance wise. (My bifocals are stronger. I think that has to do with the fact I am developing a cateract on my left eye, & am far sighted & have astignatisim.) Wait until you see if it improves, unless your vision gets worse. (((hugs))) Ellen

I swear this is the source of all answers...who need a class? ;) Thanks for the info. My current Rx is fine so I'll live with it for awhile, maybe I'll go in next year. By then my face will be thinner and I'll need a different shape frame anyway right? So nice to be able to think that way finally!

I have horrible vision! I am blinder than a bat without my glasses or contacts. My eyes are so bad that I rarely wear glasses in public, they look like coke bottle bottoms!! I just got my eyes checked the other day, my vision did not improve. I ordered new glasses, the lenses are supposed to be ultra thin...we'll see...
