Feel better PRAISE GOD Is weight loss consistent at first??
Hi everyone!
I have been back to the doctor again. I have been put on meds to help numb my stomach a bit so that I can get some food/drink in me.
It is the darndest thing! I feel fine until I eat or drink, then I get cramps, they are getting less painful (Praise the Lord!!) and I take pain meds when they get bad.
My biggest problem is trying to get all the protein in and I am skipping meals (because I am trying to work and can't lay down because of cramps). If I do not have anything cold I do better everything has to be at room temp --even drinks (uggh )
I am being checked weekly because of this problem that only a few percent of patients get (lucky me!) but I am not really losing much weight. Does that happen to somepeople --they just lose slowly? I was hoping for 5 pounds a week but I am sadly mistaken. Maybe its because my body is getting used to not having food. ANy suggestions??
The first month is your best month for loss....usually 20-30 pounds or more...then it slows way down to 8-12 pounds a month...and you will think that's small...but ask yourself when was the last time you lost 8-12 pounds a month ?
I understand your impatience....we all went through it the first year....it's agonizinggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!
I know you will weigh yourself everyday (I did 3-4 times a day ) But start a calendar and your surgery annivesary date each month and weigh yourself first thing in the morning, naked, after urinating and use that as your 'official' weigh-in. That way ya don't get the ups and downs you get when you weigh yourself through-out the day with clothes on or after taking in fluids.
This will help ya stay focused on the monthly loss and when it starts adding up...you will be much less impatient. Just wait until you start going down a clothing size each month
Good luck and happy loosing

Stacey,
Yep, your body is going nito starvation mode when you don't eat & you can easily get dehydrated if you aren't drinking enough fluid. I went to the Newbie class at St. V's last week, & the stressed the importance of our following the Dieticians food sheets. They stated that hot & cold drinks are the hardest on our "new tummys". The suggested to let your drink get atleast cooled off to room temp. That will help with the cramping.(it sure has made a differance for me.) I am glad you went & got help from your Dr. The meds. will help;just make sure to sip-sip!!!!
((hugs))
