hello everyone I am going to go see doc Lukens on feburary 13th ( I know far out but its the only day they could fit me) Hopefully will be able to get back on my thyroid, high blood pressure meds for edema, and met formin for surgar resistance. And to get my knees looked at they sound horrible going up and down stairs is a very noisy affair. My Husband laughs at me sometimes because they are so noisy and they hurt. I haven't taken those meds for over a year. maybe won't need them anymore who knows. So I will also ask him to start the diet supervision. I called aetna and they told me they don't cover it. Like you have suggested called and asked them if the employer was self insured and they are not. I think that may be a plus? So any more suggestions does it sound good? could they turn my down with the co morb? always love your imputs and can't wait to meet you all. Robin

Why dont you take you thyroid meds?? that affect more of your body then your weight.. your hair, your heart your bones... I have been on thyroid med for the last 20 years and I am still on them.. yes the dose has been lowered but if it dont work it dont work at asny weight. Good luck with the process i am in Mooresville and went to ST V carmel.. long way to drive but worth it with the support i get and the follo ups!! linda

well when our 16month daughter arrived it would have cost us 140.00 a week to stay on insurance. So we decided to take me off insurance which brought it down to 90 dollars a week insurance just for our daughter. My Doctor would not give me any if I did not come and see him at 200.00 a visit. with a new born and taking her to the doctor we did not have any extra income. We are a one income family. So I for went on my health. But now we are in a new town and new job with insurance only costing 60 a week for the WHOLE family. I am now going to get my health back on track. I have been off of thyroid for 15 months. that is why I am going to doctor lukens not only to start the diet supervision but to get back on track with all my meds. sorry if I sounded a little confusing. self insured is best...actually 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of another....i would call where your husband works and ask them if they are self insured, you'll love dr lukens.....be sure he knows i sent you...he is very personable..i think he enjoys when ed and i go in with the other...he will take time to talk and discuss anything... hopefully, now not always you will have a way around the exclusion, with the morbid or any word in front of the obese.... they can always turn you down, and till you try you will not know.... praying it all does good
