Hello, I had a fun-filled day, had all of the pre-op testing. I was at St.Francis all morning and afternoon. My very last appt. - with the Intermal Med. Doctor, who has to approve you for surgery....well I had a high blood pressure reading. Not once but twice. I have never had high blood pressure. Now I'm worried if this is a new problem that I have acquired. It was 151 over 90 What if I do have this, does this complicate surgery? I have no experience with this so here I am, confused again. Thanks,Melissa

It's mildly high...mine ran that too....now it's back down to a nice normal 100/50 Now if your BP had been 190/130....that may have made them lift their eyebrows . Some people who are hypertensive are happy just to have their bottom number under 100...and that's with their HTN meds. So don't worry about your reading...as long as the doctor says you are a go...then you should be fine. Being obese makes our hearts work harder to get the blood where it needs to go...and elevated blood pressures are often the result. Look forward to seeing you after surgery and bringing you a gift bag of goodies. Happy journey to ya!!!!!!!!

could have been cos of all the walking you were doing maybe...seems to me as i recall to, if the cuff is to small it could give a high reading..

The stress of the day could have caused the elavated reading... Doing some of those tests is NO JOY!! I get elavated readings when I am in pain. My normal is 120/80 but you find me at 130/90 when I first walk into the Drs office.. I wouldnt worry about it!! Linda
