:( just called my insurance :(

They told me that gastric bypass surgery is not covered I have aetna with what is called open access (sp?) so i don't need a referral. Does anyone else have this insurance. I was so happy to get on insurance now it seems its all for nothing

Hey Robin...I just read some of the comments by people covered under Aetna...one person stated that they also had a written exclusion and was able to get past it by sending a Letter of Medical Neccessity. call again, ask again, never know who is telling the truth...is the surgery covered for an obese, or morbid obese, sometimes those words, will make the difference.....then should your insurance be self funded your company can help you as well..also ask your insurance or hr at the job, was this surgery excluded...some exclusions are tight and no getting around it....
