Kami Shaw-PAC-Meridian Surgical Group-MAJOR dissappointment
I am sorry that you had such horrible treatment. My surgeon is Dr. Cacucci. She is in control. I LOVE her. She will make sure you get good treatment. I have seen Kami and I do like her. I have had several surgeries with Dr. C. I am 7.5 years out. I would call and tell them of your complaint. I know Dr. C would jump her case for treating a patient of hers like that.. I don't know about your surgeon, Anyway I AM sorry you were treated like that, It is uncalled for!
I have Dr Inman, and while I do like her alot. I feel very rushed when she sees me. At my one month checkup, she didnt even bother to look at my incisions, and I paid a $40 co pay for a (less than) 3 minute visit....
I was a bit disappointed, and hope it is better next time.
I do agree with the rest that you should writ a letter of complaint aganst that NP. No one deserves to be treated in that manner. No one.

I would send a letter...by certified mail...to Dr. Evanson, the practice manager, St. V's Board of Directors, CEO and anybody else in authority you can think of that I haven't mentioned.
These professionals ( of course, the one you speak of is anything but), need to be trained that there is a psychological component that goes along with bariatric treatment, and that many of us have endured bad treatment from those in the medical profession, much less society in general.
The primary reason I stopped going to St. V's support groups was because of one dietitian in particular. I haven't seen her in quite some time, so perhaps she's gone.
Thank God I only have a year and a half left of these treks to Carmel! I could use the money on a new outfit!
Remember, Kami is a physician's assistant, which means she has someone to answer to - make sure that happens!
I have seen Kami in the past, but I have never had that kind of experience with her. There is a dietitian there that I lock horns with on a regular basis, since she keeps counseling me like a RNY, but other than that, no problems at St. V's. I'm almost done with the five year follow-up that Dr. Inman required of me, so right now, I'm trying to make sure my PCP is ready to assume management of my case once the twice yearly trips to St. V's are over. I'm assuming my stats are being used for a study, since my BMI was >50 when I had my DS. I know others who have had this procedure with Dr. Inman, and they were not required to do a five year follow-up. It could also be because I have autoimmune co-morbidities.
RNY on 07/27/12
I read your post the other day and had to go into the office because I have a small infection in one of my incisions. I cringed when they scheduled me with Kami. While I am not excusing her behavior with you, she was actually pretty awesome with me.(and this is after I had read your post and was expecting the worst.) I am so sorry that your experience was horrible but just maybe she was having a horrible day.
