Hello from Columbus, INDIANA.  Would love to hear from Hoosiers who have lost weight with the band.  Also after your insurance approved how long afte was your surgery?

Hi! I had RNY so can't help you with any specific questions about the band. There is a board on OH just for banders.

It all depends on how busy the surgeon is on how long it will take to get your surgery scheduled. Mine was only a few weeks. Others, a few months. The last quarter of the year tends to be the busiest. People have already paid their deductibles for the year so they want to try to get their surgery before the end of the year. After January 1st, things slow down for a little while because people aren't ready to be hit with that deductible so close after the holidays. Income tax time may see an increase and summer vacation time, a decrease. Some surgeons are ALOT busier than others. Dr. Jones use to be in such high demand that there was a constant 2-3 month wait.

Good luck!

I had the RNY nine years ago today.  I know someone on here that had the band and was successful at weight loss and maintaining.  I'll send her a message and have her contact you.  Best of luck with your journey.

Hi. I'm an RNY'er as well, however I did have surgery there in Columbus. So...if you're planning on having surgery at Columbus Regional, I can tell you that as soon as your insurance clears, they'll schedule your pre-op labs, your education class, and then you'll have your surgery 2 no less than 2 weeks after your education class. (they'll want you to do a slimfast type diet to reduce the size of your liver before surgery...unless they've changed things since I had my surgery in 2009.) The whole process takes about a month or so.

I have my diet and psycho apt next Wed. and idk how long after they will file with my ins. They said after approval it will be about 4-6 weeks.  I'm hoping for it before March 15th.  After reading your post it looks like once insurance approves it will be quick to get my dates set.  Sounds good to me.
Thanks.

How are you doing now?  Was CRH good to you?
