I've been considering WLS for a few months now. I was looking at IU or St Francis - I am considering going to IU's seminar this weekend. I'm nervous and not quite sure what to expect. Who has been and what should I expect?

i went to the IU seminar and began my wls prep with them earlier this year. I was actually a little nervous about  it as well but the seminar is actually nothing to  be nervous about. Its in a very nice easy  to find building and everyone there is very nice and helpfull. As far as what to expect... once you enter the door you will be greeted by the receptionist at the desk and you will  sign in there. they will make a copy of your insurance card so they can check your insurance and give you an idea of what your insurance will require for you to have the surgery ( mainly if you will be on a 3 or 6 month course). Then you just have a seat in the waiting/projection room where a nurse and a doctor will show a slideshow and talk about the whole process and surgery and they will answer questions after. When its all done they ask you if you would like to schedule an appointment to see the doc. Thats all there is to it really, its very informative and helpful.

I am going to St. Francis this week. Seminar and Dr. Visit on same day. Since I have to take off work, I scheduled my psychiatric appointment on the same day. I am more familiar with the Indy south side and I know someone who had their WL surgery there. Good luck with your search. I think you can't go wrong if you go with either St. Vincent, IU or St. Francis.
Good luck!

My RNY was at IU. I was very happy with the staff and support that they offer. I live about an hour away in Crawfordsville so the drive is a bit of a hassle but the results are worth it. I can definitely recommend it.
