its normal to feel that way, they pumped your body with a tremendous about of gas & fluids. My doctor said people can gain up to 20 lbs right after surgery. So as long as you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing, it will pay off when you have your first weight in.

Quite normal.  You were NPO before surgery and then the IV fluids.  Both cause water weight gain.  Don't compare yourself to others.  Some gain in hospital, some don't.  This is your journey - it is individual.

Just keep following your plan.

Best wishes.

i gained almost 15 pounds in the hospital. the first few weeks you goal is to heal. get in your protein and your water and walk as much as posssible. the weight loss will happen when your body is ready.

I had only lost 6 lbs at my 3 week follow up! I burst into tears in the dr's office! But, I was in the hospital for 5 days and so full of IV fluids that my pre-op clothes barely fit when I left the hospital. Hang in there and stick to your plan. It will come off!!!!
