Anyone's advice is appreciated!!!

I tried the e mail route, it was great dealing with Colleen but not so good with Amy or Tanya.  If you do not get a call back from them in a day I would definitely get in touch with Colleen.  She helped things move along for me.  I found they were doing everything they should have been doing, but my insurance was slow to respond.  I would call the ins and they would say they were waiting on something from the Dr so I would call the DR and get told they already sent it.  I know they called my Ins many times for me to make sure the right forms were received.  It is very hard to be patience, but try. 

I am editing this, I recall Amy was a huge help!

I found out last Friday that I've been approved for surgery!!! Thank God!!! I called Dr. E's office yesterday and they told me that they did not receive my approval letter yet. I received my letter today, so hopefully they received theirs too!!  I wanted to speak to Amy but was directed to Sholanda. Does anyone know who this is?  My next question is, should I call them again tomorrow to follow up or just wait for them to call me? I would like to get my preop class and all my preop testing done, but not sure if I should try to schedule the class myself or wait on them to tell me when to come in.  Anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Congrats on the approval! I'm basically at the same step as you are.  I too just received insurance approval the 7th   and am waiting word from the surgery scheduler.  Probably that's who this Sholanda is for you.  My doctor who is in the same surgeon's group as yours, has a surgery scheduler who is Heather.  She coordinates the rest of the preop requirements and dates.   Well I have given them two weeks now  for Tanya to forward approval to scheduling office and no word yet, so I will try to contact them this week to secure a surgery date!  From the info pack you get from the first consult, you can only call and schedule preop class once you get your surgery date.

Thank you for your message.  Heather is the one who will be scheduling my surgery too. I called her yesterday to make sure that she has my file, but of course, I only spoke to her voicemail!!  I hate not getting to speak to a live person!! If you have any luck getting ahold of Heather, please let me know how you went about it. Everytime I call the office, I always get voicemails. It's been that way since October of last year. Grrr.... lol

I had my RNY on 12/16/10...just  a little over a month ago...i understand your frustration! ...hang in there! I found i got more accomplished by emails, and you catch more bees with honey .......I know you feel like pulling ur hair out!!!! explained to them how upset you are and how hard you are trying...soon it will all be behind you and you will begin a new life!   Good Luck!!

mary68, thank you so much for your message. Congrats on your surgery!   How are you doing? I hope you're doing well and recovering nicely. I do feel like pulling my hair out. I'm sure you can imagine!!   I wish I had Heather's e-mail address from Dr. E's office. I only have her number, and as of today, she never called me back. They tell you to wait, but if I left it up to them, I'd wait and wait and wait!!!  I can't wait until this is all behind me!!

I got my call back from Heather today to schedule the surgery !  It will be February 28th!

I don't have her email address and actually asked her for it, but gave me a fax number only.

All I can say is 'Hang in there'  'cause I know where you are and waiting is no fun!

Congrats on your surgery date!!!!  I'm so happy for you. As of today, I have not heard back from Heather. Hopefully, I will hear back from her soon. The insurance company told me that Dr. E has February 28th down for my surgery date, but I have not had that confirmed yet.

Have you been told when to come and do your pre ops?  I'm a little nervous about having to do that. I hope it's nothing painful!!  And you're right, waiting is no fun!!

Heather is scheduling all the required tests now and will get back to me as far as the date.  She's going to schedule it all on one day, so I won't have so many trips to make there..I thought that was pretty decent of her...and whatever date it is I will clear my work calendar for it!   Then once I know this date I will schedule the nutrition class, so there won't be a confusion of booking on the same day!

I was talking with my friend on Friday about her surgery and she told me we will have to take lovenox shots. Is this true? I don't remember Dr. Evanson talking about this at the first meeting.

My friend mentioned that I might want to ask Dr. E for some sort of numbing cream. (I'm a big baby when it comes to needles!). Does anyone know if this is something Dr. E would even do. Now, I'm scared!! I'm such a big baby!!!
