Hello... It's been forever since I have been on OH.   I had surgery 10/08, lost 80lb... and got pg at 5 mos.... I now have a beautiful girl that is almost 1 and don't regret it a bit.

However,   I am really struggling with the weight.  I am 30lbs heavier than my pre pregnancy weight and only 50 lbs less than my surgery weight.

I just can't seem to get it all together and I don't want to lose this battle....

Experience, encouraging words, a swift kick in the head... it's all welcome.

I just need to find my way back and getting on here is a start.. I hope

Tonight was the first time I have been on here in ages as well. I had my RNY in 2005 and I am up 35 pounds. Im strugglin too, but have finally decided I am gonna do this,,one pound at a time. We still are not at our presurgery weight, so we are still a success.

My first plan of attack,,is to write down everything that goes in my mouth,,drink the water,,and take the vitamins..things I have stopped doing long ago. So,,this is day one of my new success.

This is the hardest time of the year to lose too..all the goodies are everywhere. I love the cookies and the candy and the egg nog and the flavored coffee creamers and the specialty flavor ice creams...ugh! But I loved the feeling of being thin more,,and all thepretty clothes that are in my closet that I cannot wear. So, I made the choice..and chose what is most important to me.

Hope you can get yourself motivated...that is the hardest part. I can get motivated, its STAYING motivated thats hard!

Cmon,,we can do this,,one pound,,one day,,one moment at a time!!

Of course you can do it.  You made the decision to have the surgery that has given you a tool to help keep you motivated.  It is extremely difficult to lose the come back pounds. But I know you ladies can do it, Just take one day at a time. Sometimes it requires you to do only 1 hour at a time.  Just stop and think before you take that bite of whatever you have in your hand.  Am I really hungry or am I eating for  """Just because"""  That seems to be my problem   I eat for  Just because I can.  I am maintaining my weight though.  I told my DH the other day if I didn't exercise like an exercise addict I would put it back on in no time at all.   But I don't want to do that, I didn't have the surgery to be that big glob that had a hard time moving from place to place waddling around like a duck.  So some days I struggle more than others.  No one said it was the easy road even though most of the general public thinks that it is and we will never regain our weight.  Boy are they wrong. We can regain our weight and it is not the easy way out.  Each person still has to be accountable for what goes into their mouth.  As one of the spin instructors keeps telling us   """ It is a mind over matter, you can do anything your mind tells you to do""""  Of course she is talking about going the extra distance and pushing harder and working through the  aching muscles while spinning.  Her theory is that your body will only do what your mind tells it to do.  I would like both of you ladies to post your progress in a week after you put your mind to it.  I know you can do it!!!!

Go back to the basics you had at the begining of your surgery. Measure your food, drink lots of liquids, no caffine or refined sugars, get up and move, food journal. It will be tough at first but you'll get back in the swing of things before you know it & the weight will start coming back off. I'm five yrs out & I still eat off a toddler plate... I even take it w/me when I go out to eat. I even use a toddler size fork so that I don't take to big of bites that I can't chew down all the way. Just go back to your basics whenever in doubt!

Dani,  I know you can do this.  Don't give up.  Be tough and do it for yourself!!!!  You deserve it.  Don't let the whole pg issue derail you from the reason you made this decision in the first place.  You are an amazing person and so strong.  Don't ever give up.  I am here for you if you ever need me.  Just look me up on FB or text me.  I will send you my number.

Huge hugz!!!

It's a struggle for all of us. Like it or not, we are addicts.  I too am up 10 pounds.  We have to get back on track, and like was suggested...measure, write and keep track of exercise.....we can do it!   You are not alone...hang in there.

Hi all!

It's great to see you posting and reaching out to your WLS friends.  I know many of us have struggles throughout our journey and it's tough but try to picture it as a small road bump for now.   If you can keep your thoughts positive and remind yourself why you chose this journey in the first place.

It is a great idea to journal if you don't mind doing it.. Don't forget you can also do a lot on the Internet if you prefer to type instead of write.  Sparkpeople.com, fitday.com etc.. these are some great places for recipes also.  My dietitian always says "If you bite it, write it"!

One thing that works for me is positive affirmations/quotes etc.  If you are on Facebook I have a page that I post to daily with these type of quotes/articles/posts etc..  They are about life in general along with weight loss and my hope is those words touch someones life daily.  Its under Bariatric Life Coach Association.

I won't "kick you in the head" perhaps but I'm here to offer my experience, encouraging words and well maybe a kick when needed!  :)  I'm 3 years post op and happy to help you in anyway possible.  You can always send me a message behind the scenes as well.

Not sure where you are located but do you have access to a support group in your area?  I recently started one in my home town because I don't have any in the immediate area. That might be a thought for you if you would be interested?

Another idea for you is to sit down and make some goals, short and long term and then ask yourself what steps do I need to take to achieve these goals?

I have other resources if you are interested!  Send me a note through OH or email at
[email protected].

Hope this helps!
