Need a Surgeon for follow up issue

I recently moved to Terre Haute, IN from Missouri.  I had my surgery February 2008 and sadly the surgeon that performed my RNY in Missouri has quit his practice to teach.  I am having some problems and need to find a new surgeon.
I'm not sure if anyone else has these symptoms, but in the middle of the night, I get really bad chest pains.  I cant breathe and the pain is horrendous.  They hurt so bad that many times I break out in a sweat and last anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.  Seems like if I "sleep" sitting up, it doesnt happen as often.  The pain has gotten so bad that i am afraid to fall asleep sometimes.  It doesnt happen everynight so I never know when I am going to have an "attack".  My regular doctor though that I was having anxiety attacks and put me on anti-freak out meds, but they never worked.  Then I began to wonder if there was an issue with my new tummy.  I need someone to talk to and give me a full checkup.  I was hoping that someone knows a surgeon that is really good that they could recommend.

Thanks for any advice or recommendations,
Angeline

Thanks!  Do you know if she practices anywhere near Terre Haute or Indianapolis?

On the journey to losing weight, your friends & family will be the first people to try to knock you off. They do this not out spite, but out of being convicted and knowing they should do the same. It's easier to put someone down for doing the right thing, than for them to actually do it. So at your next family re-union or wherever you are eat your chicken and broccoli and smile when they make jokes about you, they are jealous!

I lived in Terre Haute for awhile and had to come back to Indianapolis and Carmel to see my doctor.  I highly recommend Dr John Ditslear.  Most of the good doctors practice north of Indianapolis.  I know it is a drive (trust me I rode in an ambulance from Terre Haute to Carmel twice!) but the doctors are worth the drive!

Good luck.

Angeline,

I'm not a doctor but what you are describing sounds very much like it could be  KBS...Kinky Bowel Syndrome. Because we do lose so much weight, the intestines have lots of room to wiggle around. In doing so, sometimes they get hung up. A few well places stitches can stop this from happening.

I had started off with Dr. Gupta but she moved and I'm now with Dr. Cacucci. Both surgeons are top notch. Dr. Gupta had taken care of my KBS. Dr. Cacucci literally saved my life when my entire length of intestines lost their blood supply. That ultimately caused several surgeries to then try to repair a hernia stretching from sternum to pelvis and from as far back on my sides as you could go without being in the back. When she has patients with big or multiple hernia's, she now thinks of me and wonders how I'm doing. lol.

My step-dad lived in Clinton and went to a Carmel surgeon. He felt the drive was more than worth it. Even though I live in Indy, I know that I'd feel it was worth it as well. My life is worth the drive. So is yours.
