Incisional Hernia Anyone?
So back in May I had emergency surgery for an intussusception, while 30 weeks preggo mind you. ( See story here http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/IN/4171885/Was-heading-to- my-baby-shower-and-ended-up-in-E-Surgery/)
So I go in today for a consult with Dr. Bergman for a tummy tuck. While feeling around on my tummy she says, wow did you know you have a hernia? Had not clue. I thought that was just the way the scar healed from the surgery in May plus just having a baby etc. Now I know why my jeans dont fit right, ha!
Just wondering if anyone else has had one. I have to call Dr. C this afternoon and get in to see her. Good news is Dr. B said they could fix it and do the tummy tuck at the same time.

I had a small incisional hernia repaired by Dr Rose Marie Jones back in Dec 2003, one year after my original roux en y. I haven't had a problem with that since and have even had the incision opened several more times.
Congrats on the baby! I read about your intussusception, what a scary situation. I'm glad you are well enough and far enough in your weight loss journey that you can have a tummy tuck. It's good that they can repair the hernia while they are in there. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hey Kim - I had hernia surgery Sept 10 - and am still in pain from it. Recovery was worst than my RNY. Probably because I had 13 incisions. They said it would be outpatient but I ended up there 3 days due to a high fever.
My hernia was the size of a walnut, and the doctor said I could live with it. But over a 3 mo. period it grew - I had burning in my stomach - and found out that was my incision ripping more. I told the doc my hernia had really grown and he told me later he didn't put much stock in that until he saw it himslef. It was the size of a canteloupe. I really looked pregnant - and couldn't wear anything!
I hope the best for you - get it repaired early and don't wait like I did.

Oh Wow, thanks for the information. I have been putting it off and I too think its growing, I swear my tummy looks bigger everyday. This is the kick in the butt I needed to get this taken care of!
