RNY Revision?

Does anyone know of a good surgeon in the Midwest area (KY, TN, IN, IL) that does revisions from proximal to the distal RNY? I had surgery 4 years ago and it was supposed to have been a distal and I even asked my surgeon about it and he said that he did the distal but I found out that he did the proximal. Could you explain to me why? What difference does it make promimal or distal? I have no clue which one I had. Why would it make a difference how much small intestine was bypassed - except maybe vitamin & nutrient malabsorption.

I don't know much about the proximal/distal but I had a revision from a SRVG (Ring) to an Open RNY on Feb 5th 2010 by Dr. John Huse, Indianapolis, Indiana. Phone: 1-317-872-1161. I'm sure they have a 1-800 number but not sure what it is.
