Frustrated....

Hello all, my name is Kim!  I am currently in the process of waiting....which admittedly I am not very good at.  I had my consultation with dr. Inman on August 19th of this year.  She was stuck in surgery so we had to wait for 2 hours for her to arrive....this left a bad taste in my mouth.....

After the consultation I hustled around and by the following Monday had ALL of my items faxed to them and had my psych consult scheduled.  I have been really doing a lot of  leg work to aid them in what they have to hunt down, such as old records, doctors signing off on things etc...
I was told that after my psych eval they would "convene" to discuss my case and would submit me to insurance for approval.

I've waited and waited, literally running to the mailbox every day to see if my letter has come to move forward.  Nothing..........

So I emailed Tanya in the business office to see if she would suggest that I contact my insurance to check the status.....Much to my suprise/dismay my pre-qualifying had not even been sent to my insurance yet...........

I've been attending support meetings, going to doctors, doing this, doing that and they haven't even submitted for pre-qualification...........ugh...........what the heck are they waiting on......

Is this a second sign that maybe this is not the surgeon for me??

I'm just feeling very let down and discouraged.  I feel like they have dropped the proverbial ball.

Also has anyone else been diagnosed as having polyps in their stomach d/t long term use of prilosec for GERD.  Could this prevent me from having surgery in the first place??

I jabber on....sorry...nerves I guess...any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks!!
Kim

Dr Inman is worth the wait.

I agree. Dr. Inman is the best of the best in Indiana. Keep in contact with Colleen via email. She is pretty good about following up on emails. Patience, the paperwork will take time. I had to wait a year from my consult until my surgery date.

I went to the same center as you and I didn't have to find any paperwork or do any legwork myself. I was approved in 4 days. Your experience surprises me.

I was on Prilosec 18 years ago when it was an experimental drug. Because of that, I was allowed to take it for only 12 weeks. My doctor said it caused cancer in labratory rats. I was glad not to take it anymore. I was surprised when it was approved for OTC sales.

Wow thanks KerryJean....both of your comments made me feel like crud.....lol

I did my own leg work and I am still waiting....

As far as the Prilosec goes, I've been on it forever literally.....praying I am not just a lab rat.......

Dont worry its not just you!!!!  I was so frustrated with the office too.  I had the exact same experience as you.  I had my consult July 1st.  I had my Dr. Stote appt the 7th.  I was told that his letter would take 2 days to get to my chart and then it would go to the insurance in the next week.  I had my office sending everything in already.  So I waited and waited and waited.  I contacted Tanya too.  No response for a while.  Finally after 2 more weeks I was able to get ahold of her.  Yes everything should go to ins soon.  Then I got a letter in the mail stating I hadnt done my Stote appt!  WHAT???  I was so upset.  I emailed her right away.  Nope NO LETTER in my chart after a month.  2 days took a month.  Finally the next week a letter from him and every thing gets sent to insc or so I thought.  Tanya tells me to wait 2 weeks to call insc co.  I do and low and behold they never recieved anything!!!  I was really mad then.  I email Tanya again she says she sent it and will resend it.  Im kicking myself for not calling them the next day to make sure they got it.  Im thinking the insc co will take forever.  They have the approval to her office in 2 DAYS!  I was thrilled.  SO now my chart goes to the surgery scheduler.  I call and leave her a message.  She does no answer her phone.  Her message says she will give you a date in 5-10 days.  WELL after 4 weeks and many phone calls and emails I finally got a date.  Nov 3.  July 1st start.  4 months and my insc co only took 2 of those days.  I know Dr Inman is worth it.  I work at St.Vincent.  Its soooo frustrating though.
My mom is now having the same issues.  Nobody calls back or answers there phone.  Tanya is the only one so far that is good at responding.  I will say that  since I got my date everything that happens after that has happend when they said it would and Im feeling more confidence in the office.  Hang in there.  It will happen but I know what you are feeling.  Its so hard!
Sorry this was so long:)  I felt the need to vent!!
Thanks Stephanie

Dr Inman did my RNY, she is fantastic.  I had some problems between the office and my insurance but I kept copies of everything, so wherever I would hear someone did not get whatever I had a copy to send them.  I was onthe phone daily with both the Insurance Co and the Dr's staff to find out what was gong on and if there was anything else needed.  The thing that burned my ass was when the insurance co would tell me they needed something but said they could not tell me what it was they were waiting for!  Tanya was great, but I dealt with Amy McGuffy mostly.  I am attaching my list of contacts and e mails, maybe it can help you some.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

I just had my 18 mo post op check.  The surgeons are moving their office back to St. Vincents (above the bariatric center) in December.

I've had problems getting test results.  It seems there move to from St V to Clarion and not being settled and now going to move back  - can probably expect more delays.

I guess we have to be patient.
