I'm looking for information on two hospitals in the Indianapolis area, specificly St. Francis and St. Vincent. I'm considering VSG, and I'm looking to see what kind of personal experiences (good and bad!) anyone has had with these two hospitals, their physicians, and this procedure. I did speak with someone (just insurance department)  from St. Francis this morning, but have not had a chance to talk to anyone from St. Vincent yet. It was just a jump-start phone call regarding my insurance policy and the criteria I'd need to meet.

I'm just trying to gather as much information as I can.

My experience with St Vincents has been wonderful.  They treated me so well when I was in for my RNY in Jan and again for my Gall Bladder in May.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

St V's has an entire section just for Bariatric patients. The staff know how to take care of  us and they do a wonderful job of it! My stay 5 years ago was wonderful and my sons less than a year ago was great! I wouldnt have a worry going back to St V's.

I have had great experiences with St. Vincent's and Dr. Jones.  I've had 3 surgeries - RNY 12/08. gall bladder removed 12/09 and hernia repair 06/10 and the staff, including collections, have all been really kind and caring.  I even got a card from the surgery staff who attended at the last surgery.

There are not many St Francis patients here on this board.  I had surgery with Dr Mandelbaum at St Francis two years ago and have nothing but positive to say about him and the center.  I know Dr Mandelbaum does the VSG.  The center moved just about a year ago and some people have said they have trouble getting a person to answer the phone at the new center but I have not found that to be the case.  I just enter a "0" and talk to the operator and have her connect me.  Good luck with whatever you choose for yourself, I think both centers are equally as good but for me it was a matter of wanting to be closer to home for surgery and follow up care, its quite a long drive from Martinsville to the north side of Indy.
