Dr. Innman for Revision? Sorry so long...
Okay, so I had RNY in 8/08. I'm coming up on my 2 year mark. I've lost about 155lbs. I was down to around 225 but now am hovering around 230ish. The regain is my fault. I am not exercising and was eating a lot of CRAP. So, this is not about weight.....
I take full responsibility for being my own health advocate. I do not remember anyone TELLING me that I could not take NSAIDS with a pouch. I didn't get on here until post-op. This is also when I was advised I could not have the NSAIDS. I have LUPUS, FIBRO and have had two back surgeries---NSAIDS tended to be a part of my life. But I'll take the blame for not doing my OWN research and trusting someone else to tell me the truth. But then I was LIED to....
I have LUPUS. At my pre-op class I gave them my list of meds INCLUDING my Lupus meds and they told me what I could and could not take post-op. They gave me the green light for all my LUPUS meds. Dr.Cacucci was well aware of my LUPUS b/c we discussed it at length pre-op. At my FIRST post-op visit I told her I was having some stomach problems with some of my pills. She then informs me that they are commonly known to cause ulcerations in pouches and tells me it is best if I come off of one of them (most likely to cause the ulceration). WHAT? ????
Now we are 2 years down the road. I've not taken the medicatin she told me not to. I have not taken a single NSAID and I have suffered b/c of both. I have a lot of physical pain and inflammation that was being controlled before by these medications. My labs for my LUPUS are bad and my Rheumy wants me back on the meds...and I'm afraid to take them. I would like to kick the surgeon in the head but find that probably would not help much. So, I've seriously been considering a revision. I just my "stomach" to be more normal. I was thinking they might be able to undo the pouch and just give me the sleeve. This way I could take my meds and regain my pyloric valve....man, I miss that thing.
Does anyone know if Dr. Innman handles all the revisions. I must be honest. I've been having some complications lately and have found Dr. Cacucci's attitude to be just as LOVELY as always and frankly, I no longer trust her. I trust her ability as a surgeon but not the information she gives me and I am tired of her damn attitude, frankly.
I just had a scope and we had issues. Then I asked her if my pouch was stretched out and she said "Yes." Then I get home and look a the paper work and it says that my pouch looked normal and my capacity was 6-8oz which is what I thought we were suppose to be at at 2 years out?
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The post-op ban on NSAIDs is my only regret with my RNY. But overall, I'm a happy camper.
On the other subject: I would trust Dr Inman with my life. In fact, I have. I would recommend her highly. She may come off as abrupt but if you ask the questions, she will answer them. Her skill as a surgeon is beyond reproach.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
Dr Inman did my RNY and I have found her to be very helpful. But I have Busitis and when I was in with her at one visit I told her that. She said it is OK to take NSAIDS on occasion. I took some ibuprofin very rarley, but it really helped. Now I find I have 4 very large ulcers! No more NSAIDS for me!
Hey Terry! How are those ulcers doing? I has an endoscopy yesterday and Dr. Selzer found an ulcer. I have been having pain after swallowing. I am on meds now, but what causes us pre-ops to be so susceptible to ulcers? I haven't taken any NSAIDS at all.
I am going in 16s now....would you have anything to fit me?

Hi Kerry Jean, with all you have gone through I cannot be surpised you found an ulcer! How are you doing now? Things better? The medication I am taking has made a big difference. I am scheduled to go back 8/16 for them to take another look, I have been leaving messages for over a week to try to change the date to 8/27 in the am so I can have a driver. No call back yet. That gets pretty frustrating. If they are understaffed then I think they really could afford to hire another person to help Jayma out in scheduling.
I will look, but I do not think I have much in size 16's anymore. Congratulations on down another size!

See, I have also been told I could take NSAIDs from time to time by the surgeon. I had to have foot surgery and they said it was okay. But I just hear too much BAD stuff and don't want to end up with ulcers. Also, I would be fine with my RNY if it weren't for the meds...and specifically the ones for my LUPUS.
I'm at an impasse and just feel like I may have to revise. However, I've been told that Inman is not doing revisions so it looks like I'm gonna travel.

I haven't gotten that far yet. I wanted to get on HERE and start asking some questions. Then I was going to research the Docs and pick a couple that I feel comfortable with and talk to them. However, I don't want to be some of her first ones...UHM...while I TOTALLY think she is an awesome surgeon and if it weren't revision I'd be #1 but for this revision I'd like someone that's done a few..ya know?
