Hi there...am desperate to know if anyone knows of a plastic surgeon that takes medicaid. I am almost 5 years out and 200lbs lighter but obviously have the extreme excess skin (at least 50lbs worth) and there is no way I can afford to do it on my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

My doctor in Indianapolis has a list for me of those who do. I have HIP which covered my surgery and he says will also cover the skin removal. I will send you a list when I get it. You might see if your surgeon can recommend anyone.

What will usually put a lock on Medicare/Medicaid coverage is making  sure the surgery is medically necessary.  If you are getting lots of fungus infections, cellulitis, having hygiene problems because of the loose skin, it will usually get paid for.

I'm on Medicare and Indiana Medicaid due to being on disability.

Make sure you document treatment of the fungus infections, cellulitis, rtc., even if you just buy OTC ointments.

I also have a dermatologist I saw for other issues, who has treated my cellulitis attacks and fungus infections.
