Pouch?
Tish, the answer is definately YES. Your pouch can stretch. It is supposed to stretch a bit at a time for the first two years actually. That's why we increase the serving size every so often by the book.
There is a thing called the 5 day pouch test. I have done it before to tighten my pouch back up. It does work. It's not easy. It's like going back to square one for a couple days and advancing your diet slowly again over the next three days. You can find it online by searching it in google.
It's good that you are recognizing it now and are trying to intervene. If you have heard of people talk about a revision.... that is why they have a revision. The pouch gets stretched too big and they start gaining weight. It may not be the only reason for a revision but it one of the primary reasons.
Try to be sure you are following the book closely and measure your portions closely. It will help you get back on track. It's very normal to get your hunger back at the latter part of your first year after surgery. It's just that it seems odd because we didn't have to deal with it much after surgery.
Good luck and take care,
Huge hugz,
Tracy

Hi Tish-
Yes over time our pouch may stretch a bit but don't forget that our mind likes to play tricks on us with head hunger and telling us we "need" to eat more! Here are a few questions to ask yourself ~ Is that true hunger you are feeling or head hunger? Does it come at certain times during the day? Is something triggering the hunger? Are you feeling your pouch with solid proteins so you feel fuller for longer periods of time? Do you still taking 30min to eat? Remember it typically takes 20min from our belli to our mind to register fullness.
Just some things to think about!
Have a great day~
