I'm having surgery at Saint Vincent Hospital on the 28th of April. Does anyone know if my husband can stay in the room with me?
Will they let him take a shower and give him something to sleep on?
Are the rooms private?
Dr Inman is my dr and any info would be greatly appreciated.

I posted on the other forums and then realized i should post on here, since it is Indiana Forum...lol

Thanks so much,
Betty

My husband stayed with me.  They brought a cot in for him to sleep on.  The rooms in the bariatric section are private.  They're great over there.  Good luck!

I was at St. Vincents and they let my partner stay in my room. They provided a cot, sheets, etc and the shower in my room was available. I didnt think I would need anyone to stay with me but it sure was nice. You are going to be in a wonderful place! The whole floor was great! Good luck to you and may you have a wonderful journey.

My DH could of stayed with me and used the shower...but I sent him home.  They don't feed them ...my room was private not sure of your hospital.  We had a chair that could lay flat for him..and I advise he take him own pillow ...just to feel like home..he will sleep better.  Those are questions you should ask of St. Vincents....they will gladly tell you!  Patty the nurse from Fresno Heart Hospital  where I had my surgery.

St. Vincent is a wonderful place. As a nurse, I have worked in various hospitals and can say I got great care at St. V's. Your husband can stay, but realize, he wont get much sleep. You are up walking throughout the night, nurses are in and out, etc. Good luck on your journey!

I'm having my surgery done at Clarian north...however we stoped in one evening and asked if we could have a small tour of the bariatric unit. They were very happy to show us around and we asked ??? about hubby rooming in/showering and that said "as long as he isn't peeing in your cup he is more than welcome to use your shower and sleep in here"  So that was really nice to get to see the facilities etc. Maybe St. V does the same thing and you can ask them questions as well.

ST. Vincent's will also give a tour of the unit if you stop by.  I did that and they were wonderful at telling me what to expect and answering my questions.
