Plastic approval today

I received a call from Dr Bergmans office today that my plastics (panni) had been approved by the insurance.  She said if I still wanted it done she would call back in a couple of days to give me available dates.  Dr Bergman is suggesting I would be a lot happier with the outcome to pay the extra and get the abdominoplasty instead of just the panni especially since I carried most of my weight around my abdomen.  It would be about $3700. extra in addition to what the ins wil pay.

So I am very excited but also sometimes question whether it is "vain" to have this done and if I should?  Guess I am just more worried about others and what they think.  I really want it done though.

You won't regret the investment.  I am still amazed at the results Dr B got out of my flabby old body.  Clothing fits better, muscles are tight, less chance of hernia.

Terri you will be so happy with it.  Dr. B is amazing and I love her.  I just did the panni removal and dont regret any of it.   Do worry about the feelings you are having about it being vain or selfish.  I think that is a bit normal.  I had the same thoughts.  I just couldn't afford to do the extra but she did some of it for me and really helped me out.  She took off my belly button so she was able to include a little "extra" on the insurance bill.  She is an amazing surgeon and 4 weeks out, my incision is nearly invisible on the sides of my hips.  I can see the beginning and then very ends of the incision but the most of it dont really show.

I am sooo happy for you and I know you will love it when you see how great you feel and look.

Huge hugs!!!  And get ready cause her surgery date was only 3 weeks away when I got my approval.  It goes fast!

Love ya,
Tracy

Terry, go for it girl! As I look at my hanging skin now, since having Noah, I can't wait to try to get some insurance approval to remove extra skin. You are not being vain, just 'completing the process'.

Just getting my panni gone will be wonderful.  I am so tired of the rashes and soreness!  But I have awhile still to go.  If the $3700 is do-able I would sure consider it.  After all we go through to lose the weight we deserve to have everything tighted up a bit!   Do not worry about being vain, think how much better your clothes will fit and how good you will feel.  I find I am down in pants sizes to a 12 but the waist is still be a bit snug and not as comfortable as I would like.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

Thanks for all the support.  She thought that even tho the panni was all that some needed, the way I was built she said I would still have that what I call a muffin top over my jeans.  It is so weird and I am hoping I am not the only one who does this but a few days ago I put on my size 12 jeans which were fine but changed shirts 5 times because each one made me look fat with that fat hanging over the top.  LOL   I worry now about it more than I did 90 pounds ago.

One thing that I feel better about is that Lyn and I talked about this before we had our surgery that we both would have the skin removed so I know that he would expect me to do it.  Oh how I wish he could have seen me at this size.

Thanks again,  Love you all and MISS EVERYONE       Terry

Hi Cybil--I erally didn't think I was ready for PS but at my appt in Nov. the surgeon brought it up and told me he wanted me to pursue it at this time.  I told him I thought I had a lot more to lose but he said my weight had been stable for a few months and that my clavicle bones, hip bones and ect were showing and he thought I had lost enough.  He said I would lose probably 10# with the PS.  I still weigh about 182 and wear a size 10 or 12 in jeans and a medium shirt.  The last scrub pants I bought I had to send the mediums back and get smalls which was great.  I will be perfectly fine with my weight once I get rid of this extra stuff in the front.

Terri I went to see the plastic surgeon back in November (dr lee at st f's) and was told the same thing about the muffin top.  I have decided to wait until I can afford the extra so its gonna be awhile for me.  Probably looking at next year as I am still paying off my copays for my surgery and my husbands oral surgery.  We have a medical credit card it was quick and easy to get but there isn't enough available on it at this time for plastics.

I intened to see Dr B when I am more financially ready and was wondering what you ladies submitted to get approved for help from your insurance.  Anything you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Jeannie
