whats next

Hello all. I am planning on VSG. I am currently trying to lose the 20lb required by my physician. Dr. Mattar. My insurance has already been approved for surgery. I was told I would be getting a call next to set up appt for pre-op class and to expect to be there all day. Can anyone tell me what this consists of? Do they do all your pre-op testing there and what testing do they do for VSG? Any information would be helpful. Thanks Kim

The pre-op class gives you detailed instructions on the different phases after your surgery.... liquid phase, soft food phase....

Vitamin regimine, protein requirements, etc.  It's a long day but very helpful.  I did mine 3 years ago.....it's education not testing.  I don't think they've changed  it so I believe your pre-op testing will be a seperate appointment actually at the hosptial. 

Good luck with your surgery.  You're in excellent hands with Dr. Mattar.  He did mine 3 years ago (RNY) and it's been terrific!

I'm getting VSG and my class is next Tuesday.  I will let you know what I find out!  I have not heard from or seen any other VSG patients on the Indiana board or at the support group meetings, there has to be some out there somewhere I would think!  But hopefully my experience will help you.
