Well in a little over a week, on March 11 to be exact, I will be having my surgery. My surgeon is Dr Huse and it is being done at St Vincent Carmel. I am having the open Rny. Originally it was sceduled for tomorrow morning but he is going to be gone, on vacation I think. Better to have a well rested surgeon in my opinion.

Now my question is when using my Spirometer I find myself yawning a lot, is that normal? Also they set my goal at like 2500 but I keep going way over that usually around 4000, hopefully there isn't a problem with that....

1st best wishes and congrats on the surgery.. it was a tough life changeing decision but one I wouold do again in a minute.. You may be able to go way above goal right now but you will be grateful your goal is 2500 the day after surgery when it will be much harder to reach!! Keep practicing and get yourself ready!! a good breath will honestly help keep you healthy in your recovery!!

Congrats on your life choice to walk the same journey we all have walked. I had RNY with Dr Huse on June 11 and I have never once regretted it. Keep doing what you are doing with the spirometer! You will be glad you did. I didnt have yawning going on so I really do not know.

Take care and let us know how you are doing!

Hi There!  Im so excited for you!  It kinda sucks that you have to have it open, but at least you know it going in,so you wont wake up with any surprises!  My surgery is March 17th and I'm getting a little nervous.  As far as your IS just besure that you are doing it very slow and keeping the ball in between the two arrows.  It harder but that is what makes your lungs open up. I wish you all the best, I will keep you in my prayers and keep an eye out for updates.
