We survived Saturday. LOL

As Tracy posted on Saturday we participated in a triathlon at the local YMCA.  4 years ago I would have never thought about getting myself on a treadmill or an exercise bike and I was afraid to try to swim, I was afraid that I would sink to the bottom.

141 pounds less and still working on losing another 75-100 pounds (after revision in July) I completed something that I never would have dreamed that I could have done.  Not sure how much Tracy did,I do know that she completed the triathlon, and I saw her right before I got on the bike, but here is my WOW WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO MOMENT........
* I walk a mile in 19 minutes for a local Rescue Mission called Walk a mile in my shoes...for the homeless.  This walk was done outside in the cold snowy weather, this was to raise money and awareness of the homeless issue we have here in Grant County.
* After walking the mile, I put my swim suit on (didn't like what I saw, hanging skin, fat rolls LOL). I walked, jogged, and swim 6 laps in 10 minutes. (I feel considered my size that was very competitive, because when I left there was a young marine recruit that was at the top at 10 1/2 laps in 10 minutes).
* On to the bike, this was my strength, I rode 5.88 minutes in 15 minutes, I pedaled like I never pedal before, my goal was 5 miles, when I reached it and had time left I raised it to 5.5 miles, completed that and still had a few minutes left so I went for 5.75 and finish with 5.88 miles.  (Had a male participate on the group of four that made the comment I do not believe that she rode that far, the YMCA member overheard this comment and pushed the button on the bike and had him see for his own eyes, what the numbers read. This shut his mouth real quick. LOL.
* I was tired by now and only finish on the treadmill at .86 (which I increased my speed from 3 miles per hour to 3.5)

I felt wonderful after this, so I went home and started to do laundry, to keep me moving so I would not get stiff.  I thought oh my I am going to be sore come Sunday but I wasn't.

Someone posted about getting a  Bariatric Olympics, I think that would be a wonderful idea.  I am willing to participate and even help getting something like this started, anyone else interested.

Well I guess I better get back to work, not really wanting to.  I may look at some more posting.  lol

Hugs

What an inspiration!  You are knocking my socks off!  I don't even own a bathing suit let alone allow myself to be seen in one and you worked it!  Congratulations.  I am so proud of you and Tracy.

Peggy!!!  High fives!!!

It's funny that Peggy and I participated in different heats and were not in the pool or gym at the same time.  I completed 6 laps in the pool as well.  The Marines were just getting in the pool as I was getting out.  So, I was freaking out that 15 Marines were standing there waiting for their heats to begin as my saggy old butt came crawling out of the pool.... poor guys!!!  They didn't deserve that punishment!  LOL

I didn't do as well as Peggy on the bike.  I only got in 4 miles.  But I didn't push my hardest because I didn't want to run out of energy before the treadmill.  The treadmill is more my style anyway.  So, I got on the treadmill and paced myself to finish up by running the last 3 minutes and sprinting the last 30 seconds.  I jogged on and off every two minutes until then.  I made it and I was so very proud of myself.

Like Peggy, 18 months ago, I was 150 lbs heavier and I would have not even made it out of the pool after swimming 6 laps.  But I did it and I am very proud of myself!

Peggy has been an inspiration to me and I am so very lucky to have her as a neighbor and friend.  She's amazing!!!!!!

Huge hugz to Peggy and thanks to all of you for supporting us!

Great Jobs Tracy and Peggy!  You are both inspiring to the rest of us.    You should both be very proud of yourselves for what you accomplished.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.
